
The Crypt’s standing as a live music venue in the south-east is second-to-none and it’s reputation for representing the forefront of new music is legendary. It has championed the alternative music scene from the days of Punk, through Goth, Grunge, Britpop and beyond with weekly club nights and live music from some of the leading bands in the World. It was in the vanguard of the Dance Music revolution as well, with world-famous DJ’s John Digweed and Danny Howells running regular club nights in the 90’s.
The Crypt has played host to many hundreds of live acts including: Gil Scott-Heron, Eddie Reader, Coldplay, Travis, Ash, Reef, Supergrass, The Selecter, The Bluetones and The Fall.
It is in the very centre of the town and its entrance is in Havelock Road. It is open every Thursday (from 11pm ‘til 3am), Friday(from 11pm ‘til 3am) and Saturday (from 11pm ‘til 4am), but can be open 7 nights a week with special events and gigs.
