About me:

Betrayed is a hit!

“A play so accomplished, so powerful, so truly theatrical … Every American should see it!” John Simon, Bloomberg

“Heart-rending! … The clarity of the writing, the urgency of the story and the fine performances give the play a sharp dramatic impact and a plain-spoken beauty.” New York Times

“Extraordinary! This play is that rare theater experience that commands absolute attention while watching it and continues to haunt the viewer long after the play ends!” Theatermania.com

“With its richly drawn characters, Betrayed packs an emotional punch!” NYTheatre.com

“A powerful, well-acted drama!” New York Post

Blending prize-winning theatre with urgent moral drama, the Culture Project brings the national political conversation to life on the New York Stage.

For more than a decade, the Culture Project has told stories as timely as the morning's newspaper in a way that news articles and editorials can never match.

Through brilliantly conceived, expertly staged dramas, the Culture Project sparks conversation, lifts the human heart and incites political action.

A venue for acclaimed, prize-winning performance, the Culture Project is also a magnet for today's best talent including Meryl Streep, Vanessa Redgrave, Jackson Browne, Holly Hunter, Mary J. Blige, Robin Williams, Marisa Tomei, Bob Balaban, Rinde Eckhert, Danny Glover, Frank McCourt, Staceyann Chin, Lynn Redgrave, Sarah Silverman and other artists who share a passion for theater and public justice.

TO THE DEATH OF MY OWN FAMILY is coming back to the city after a two week tour through four cities in India: Chennai, Bangalore, Pondicherry and Mumbai, where we had to turn away theater-goers and nearly had a riot. So we decided to do an unplanned, second performance. It was standing-room-only and standing ovations throughout the tour. Therefore, I would like to invite all to visit my web site where you can take a tour, see a slide show, and read comments from the Indian press, including Time Out Mumbai:

http://web.mac.com/dlm67

Please join us to see Farah Bala's mesmerizing performance in a one-woman show with 15 characters in an intensely dramatic non-linear drama directed by Drama Guild Member Peter Ratray, veteran of Broadway, Off-Broadway, TV and film.

TO THE DEATH OF MY OWN FAMILY is the story of an Afghan-American woman who returns to Afghanistan to help her father escape and witnesses the slaughter of her entire family. She then has to justify her journey and reclaim her citizenship during an interrogation when she returns to the United States.

The Abrons Arts Center at the Henry Street Settlement

Critique from WRITER'S DIGEST - THE NAISA MAFIA - read and enjoy............

CritiqueOn a scale of 1-5, with 1 meaning "poor" and 5 meaning "excellent," please evaluate the following:
Plot: 5 - Intriguing, with plenty of conflict.
Grammar: 4 - No major problems.
Character development: 4 - Dynamic, compelling characters.
Cover design: 4 - Eye-catching and professional.

Judge's commentaryThe descriptions of the action and the depictions of the characters were very realistic - it was like watching a movie in my head. A good ending, and lots of interesting settings. Tight structure, decent description, and the plot moves along nicely. This is a good book, with plenty of conflict, and an interesting hook. One of the better self-published efforts I've read.

Author/filmmaker - Chau Van Truong asks visitors to check out 'THE NAISA MAFIA: Chronicle OF The Godfather'..... Call 1-800-431-1579 to get your copy deliver to your home/bookstore...
