From an early age it was apparent that Natashia, Natalie and Nataiah would embrace music in their lives.
This musical trio are vocalists and play piano, violin, cello, guitar, drums, and trumpet.
They began their début singing for Canada’s former Honourable Prime Minister Chrétien. At a tender age, the girls were inspired by the musical gifts of Alicia Keys, John Legend, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, and Mariah Carey. Along with these artists, their African, Greek and Hungarian roots have influenced their song writing and musical arrangements which have led them to work with some of most talented artists and producers that have worked with Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Shania Twain and Avril Lavigne.
Lloyd Delpratt, who taught Bob Marley, and recorded and arranged with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, saw an opportunity to record “Barack Obama”, and “No More Wars”, and invited the sisters to the recording with Bob Williams from Jamaica, which landed The Cunningham Sisters a historic performance for Pesident Barack Obama’s three debates, election night and Inauguration via the Democratic Campaign.
Their angelic voices were also heard by The Hamilton TigerCats Football and Bulldogs Hockey fans as The Sisters sang the Canadian and American Anthems. Other performances include The Pearson Convention Centre, Yacht Club The Commerce Group, The Chandelier guest speaker Dr. Ruby Payne, Rose Theatre, United Way Gala, Sickle Cell Fundraisers, Breast Cancer Awareness, New York Model Kimberlyn Paris Event, The Cunningham Sisters Documentary, 146th Emancipation featuring The Blackburns and Juno Award Winner Liberty Silver, and their hometown village Westdale’s Westitalia, and The Red Door. The Cunningham Sisters recently performed their new single “Superman” for Martin Luther King Day at Hamilton Place.
The girls grew up in Ontario, where they study French Immersion. Along with their musical skills, the girls also realize the importance of academic studies.
Currently Natashia is attending 3nd year of University, majoring in Life Science and a double minor in French and Music. Her work on the Black History Committee has taught her the importance of her heritage and being a positive role model. Natashia has enjoyed teaching piano and violin since the age of 12. She competed playing violin in Boston, New York, Chicago, and Montréal.
Natalie has earned her respect for her dedication in her school, for balancing education, musical performances and sports. She is an amazing soccer player with incredible speed and fascinating moves. Natalie shares her creative gifts as she works with choirs, developing sets for performances, choreography and planning future events. Her interest to collaborate with other musicians, has opened many opportunities. She is assisting in the presentation of musicians to perform for the 147th Emancipation.
Nataiah brings a high standard of music to her school. She whistled as an infant, played “The Moonlight Sonata” by ear at the age of 7 and mimicked effortlessly music she heard on the radio. She performed as Annie in the musical “Annie”. At the age of 12, Nataiah sang “Summertime” and posed with Ben Mulroney at Canadian Idol. The Cunningham Sisters are encouraged by neighbors as they pass by and hear an abundance of laughter harmony and instrumentals. There dream is to share their stories in song and be a part of global awareness and fundraisers.
The Cunningham sisters are working on material for their upcoming CD of original songs, produced by Hamilton producer Carl Jennings at Westmoreland Recording.
