.. YEAH, WE ARE THE CURLS …nothing much left to say… ..but for those who really want to know it: ‘The Curls’ are four guys from Neustadt, who together produce probably the most characteristic Sound in the region. Scarcely anybody combines as effectively the blues and the purism of the White Stripes with the appeal of the Artic Monkeys and the bulkiness of Sonic Youth. But suchlike comparisons actually have flaws, because: The Curls have their very own dirty and rousing sound. That much creativity has to be rewarded. No wonder, the guys were able to take credit at quite a few regional contests, having come an amazing third in the final round of the Heidelberg Newcomer Festival and captured at Rockbuster, a festival of the federal state Rheinland Pfalz, second place. The decision whether or not they’ll be performing at (thanks to the second place) Rock am Ring is still pending. At the end of the year their convincing performance at the Café Central in Weinheim brought a return: 1st place. All lights are on green! Astonishing as well: their age, an average of 17-18 years, but they still show most of their older colleagues clearly who’s running the show. The list of their previous gigs is long, thus The Curls vast experience, absolutely noticeable at their energetic shows. There’s definitely a lot anticipated from the four guys. One should be expectant. The Curls are: David (Vocals/Guitar), Jochen (Guitar), Max (Bass) and Til (Drums) .. .. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- .. .. "YEAH, WE ARE THE CURLS!" und mehr gibt es im Prinzip nicht zu sagen. Aber für die jenigen, die es genauer wissen wollen: The Curls sind vier Neustadter Jungs, die zusammen wahrscheinlich den charakteristischsten Sound in der Region produzieren. Kaum jemand kombiniert so effektiv den Blues und die Reduziertheit der White Stripes mit der Eingängigkeit der Arctic Monkeys und gleichzeitig der Sperrigkeit von Sonic Youth. Aber derartige Vergleiche hinken eigentlich, denn: The Curls haben ihren ganz eigenen dreckigen und mitreißenden Sound. So viel Kreativität muss belohnt werden. Kein Wunder also, dass die Jungs in diesem Jahr bei diversen regionalen Contests punkten konnten. So belegten sie z.B. einen hervorragenden 3ten Platz in der Endrunde des Heidelberger Newcommerfestivals und haben nun im Finale vom Rockbuster, dem Nachwuchsfestival des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz, den 2ten Platz belegt! Erstaunlich ist auch ihr Alter: Gerade mal 17 sind The Curls im Durchschnitt und zeigen trotzdem den meisten ihrer älteren Kollegen deutlich, wo der Hammer hängt. Von den 4 Jungs ist wohl noch so einiges zu erwarten.
