Just over two years ago The Customs formed as a four piece rock band consisting of: Gareth Dale (vocals/ lead guitar); Matthew Gribbon (Rhythm guitar); Ryan Harrison (Bass) and Ben Dearden (Drums). They have developed into a unique and talented musical collective, embracing and conquering every opportunity thrown their way.

In June 2006 once settled and confident, The Customs launched their live set into St. Helens and Warrington. Soon after they performed in their first festival; hit Liverpool; began a regular run in Manchester playing places such as Jabez Clegg, The Roadhouse, Dry Bar and Academy 3. They have ventured into the North East on a few occasions and experienced University gigs and even Punk events.

The Customs have a rare ability to win over a crowd from young to old. Whether you be an Emo, Rock or Punk fan you will enjoy the show. Along with many bands The Customs have gigged for the venues directly or local organisations, one of which is Merseyrock run by Mike Gallagher. After giving The Customs a chance Mike had this to say:

’Any one who knows me, and there’s quiet a few of you out there that do, knows that Indie rock just isn’t my thing. Not that I have anything personal against Indie bands or Indie music, it just doesn’t do anything for me. Then just when you think that the way you are thinking is so right, along comes that exception. The exception in this case is local band, The Customs. From the band walking on the stage, I just got a feeling that I was about to see something a little different from the norm. I wasn’t wrong. I would say The Customs have a rockier edge compared to most of the Indie bands I’ve seen and same again, being honest, I was so impressed with the sound and stage presence that I took a chance and gigged them with one of our punk bands. No problems what so ever and a great night was had by all. I don’t want to start breaking down into individual songs or the individual members of the band, so in a nutshell, what we have is a band that is really tight, with a range of originals and covers with a fantastic stage presence to please even the diehard punk that I think I am. There aint many Indie bands I gig but The Customs are always the first on my list’.

2007 saw the band taking a back seat, writing and recording. After taking a well earned break The Customs will return with a stronger and more exciting set, proving yet again they are a band to look out for in 2008
