The New York Punk Rock Duo your mother warned you about. Dave WASTED and Vin CYCLONE The CYCLONES.
If you're in NYC, support your local famous record store, pick up "We're Livin' Like Weasels!" at Bleecker Bob's.
Japanese Punks! Buy our record at DISC UNION Punk Market in Shinjuku, Tokyo!
Now available on ITunes
Though we make less than HALF on CD sales compared to digital downloads, we'd rather have you buy the disc from Bleecker Bob's, DISC UNION or CD Baby. But that's your choice, of course. Just BUY IT! AND BUY THE WHOLE ALBUM!
Weasels! at ITunes
The CYCLONES, "Pig," Directed by John Carlucci and Brett Mason of Fingerprint. Camera: John Carlucci. Editor: Brett Mason. Pig heads: John Carlucci.
The song is from our old, classic record, "The Punk Rock Glitterati," but the video is new. Shot on location -- literally on - the Cyclone, and in CBGB. If you were in the audience for the shoot, you know who you are, and thanks. Many can be recognized in the crowd shots, though it's tough with jerked, fuzzy YouTube video "quality." But more importantly, there is a cameo by Jeff MAGNUM, our great friend and Dead Boys' bassist. RIP CBGB.
Influences
Ramones, Dead Boys, Dictators, Stooges, Testors, Heartbreakers, The CYCLONES. That's it. Nothing else.
The CYCLONES are two real brothers from the city presently known as "The New New York." Their latest EP, "We're Livin' Like Weasels!" is available NOW!
Buy the CD from CD BABY:
Now on ITunes too (hey, it's an album, buy the whole thing, damnit.)
Buy the CD from ITunes: Disoriented listeners reveal "tremendous volume," "baffling distortion" and "speed compensating for dubious technical abilities." Good signs, indeed. The CYCLONES are slated to grind into full CD support gear this Spring. Come hear their tremendous volume, baffling distortion and speed compensating for dubious technical abilities for yourself. And do it before live music in New York is history. The CYCLONES are featured in PUNK Magazine, and we want you to get a copy. So go here: PUNK Magazine
Our article is penned by outlaw moto-journalist Bruise Lee who explains, better than we ever could, why The CYCLONES are currently on hiatus. At this juncture, we must point out that our new record, “We’re Livin’ Like Weasels!,” is available NOW, and we want you to buy it. And we’ll be back playing live soonishly.
From John Holmstrom, editor of the infamous scandal sheet: "This issue of PUNK features stories on New York City punk rock bands The Bullys, The CYCLONES, Turbo AC's, Peelander-Z, and Two Man Advantage. There's also a story about the reasons behind the closing of CBGB and a bunch of rare photographs of the Ramones from 1976-1978. There are also some funny comic strips by Robert Romagnoli, Ken Avidor, Rick Trembles, Avi Spivak and John Holmstrom as well as Bruce Carleton's Punk Rock Family Tree. Then there are the usual favorites: Reviews, advertisements, and filler. Just in case you keep track, the last regular issue of PUNK was numbered #17, the new issue is numbered #19. We hope to publish PUNK #18 in the near future. We're also planning brand-new issues of PUNK, including a special issue on the history of CBGB.”
Listening to your CD all the time here in Detroit! Great stuff and looking forward to seeing you play one of these decades. Love and brass knuckles! Jenna
Is it true that you guys broke up because Dave won't let Vin put any of his asian girlfriends on your Top 32 Friends list? I hope not because it'd be too sad. :(
Here's an idea. How about letting Vin have one spot in the corner of the list for one asian girl? We could call the spot The Cyclones' Honorary Hot Asian Girl Position Of Glory or something like that.
Let's do it!!!
BTW, there's having an electric show at Continental in Jan. Sounds like the perfect thing for you two to have a show, even if it's the last. I mean even The Band had a farewell concert.
I know you guys are keeping all your Cyclones' stuff locked away until your retirement years so you can live in the lap of luxury during your declining years, but there's NO Cyclones' videos online except for the Pig promo. If you're not gonna fulfill my oft-stated and deep desire to see you guys do more shows, the least you can do is put some live videos online so I have a way of reminiscing about one of my favorite bands without having to rely on my beer soaked memory.
Saturday - Beauty Bar Brooklyn - Djs Twig, Brenda + Co.+ LIVE! SHINGOMANIA! 1 drummmaniac in 3 bands!THE RATS - BACK CC's Dual Record Release+ Bon Voyage party for BABY SHAKES Euro Tour 09!!!I Dont Understand It / The Doctor Is In (mini-sode) from theratsnyc on Vimeo.
I wish the Cyclones would suck up Jeff Magnum and spin over for some Detroit style punk destruction at The Old Miami-Detroit, Small's or Paychecks in Hamtramck or the Double OO in Redford, MI! Have hammers and hacksaws to pass out once you get here. XO Jenna
Thanks Guys, Hope to see you in person relatively soon. Planning my move back to Brooklyn after the 1st. Leaving my 2nd home of Sarasota, FL. to join civilization in Park Slope. Cant wait to meet
