I enjoy computer gaming. And when I say this, I mean it in the same way that one might suggest that the U.S. Navy enjoys ships. I like the technical aspects, the strategic aspects, the action, the internal and external economics, the reflection on society and vice versa, the controversy, the designing of, the programming of, the testing of and the playing of games. There is no aspect about gaming which I won't happily talk about for hours.
Beyond that, I like the standard run of activities, e.g., reading, television, movies, heading out to Gaithersburg/Rockville spots on the weekend, etc. I'm not much into dancing or anything that includes hurtling through the air in a hollow aluminum tube. I'm pretty happy with what I have, where I am.

Motion
Lately I've been in an off-phase, not listening to much music. Generally, though, I like electronic based music, preferably with strong lyrics, such as VNV Nation, though pure instrumentals such as Juno Reactor are also good. Silly music is also generally in the rotation... Least favorites: anything involving the steel guitar or hate-based rap.

Movies
I generally like to say that "Dark City" is my favorite movie just because the concept was so cool. Either that or Aliens, because after all these sci-fi movies where you think, "Why don't they just send in the goddamn marines?" we finally get to see that happen. Sci-fi is easily my favorite genre but I like a pretty broad spectrum, from Lost in Translation to Minority Report to Spirited Away. I mainly only dislike "stupid humor" comedies.
Television
I've fairly recently started in on watching anime. I found out that I'll take a good story whenever I can get it and don't really care if it's animated or not. Cowboy Bebop was excellent, Samurai Champloo was awesome, Paranoia Agent was totally bizarre but entertaining, Fullmetal Alchemist was good and Naruto has been fun to watch. Tivo + Adult Swim = <3 For non-anime, I'm waiting for Battlestar Galactica to start back up. Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis are pretty good -- yes, it's possible I'm a sci fi fan. For non-fiction, Mythbusters rocks. If you don't like Mythbusters, we can't be friends.
Books
Favorite author by far: Pratchett. Read Guards! Guards! and if you don't like it, never speak to me again. I like the sci-fi and fantasy genre in general (I prefer my reading to be pure escapist entertainment) but I'm not beyond the occasional excursion into other realms. I've read some good graphic novels (I especially like Neil Gaiman) but mostly stick to pulp.
"Those afraid of the universe as it really is, those who pretend to nonexistent knowledge and envision a Cosmos centered on human beings will prefer the fleeting comforts of superstition. They avoid rather than confront the world. But those with the courage to explore the weave and structure of the Cosmos, even where it differs profoundly from their wishes and prejudices, will penetrate its deepest mysteries."

Damn my birthday and it's bad timing!! I thought about having it a week later, but then that conflicts with MY schedule.. and not to be selfish but, it IS my birthday.
so i'm thinking about actually getting the 10 lbs of candles for someone for christmas. probably just for me, though christmas makes a great excuse for me to buy it. :)
funny boys. it is especially funny at 6'30 am when you've had a couple and random people on the street join in the fun and the person with the missing shoe tries getting it back, but not too much because she gets distracted too easily. ahhhh, fun times.
