The Dave Speakman Quartet plays an eclectic blend of Jazz, Funk, Latin American and Blues. With a huge collection of tunes, we can play quietly in the background or take the focal attention of the audience, making us ideal for any occasion.
The band met at Salford University where they all studied music. Having played in various ensembles, in 2002 they decided to form a group focusing on their main passion - jazz. The Quartet enjoys playing fresh arrangements of standards, but also spends time developing their own original material. One of our many recent performances is a residency at a restaurant in Sandbach, Cheshire. The gigs have been well received and we have had a loyal following locally and further a field.
Performances can be constructed to meet every client’s needs; coming from a large network of professional musicians, we can expand our line up by adding piano, brass and vocalists. We can also fit into just about any reasonable space.
If you are looking for a great swinging jazz quartet to help you celebrate or promote your special occasion then we are perfect for the gig. Our malleable sound, size and style allow us to blend into any type of event.

If you'd like a listen I have a couple of new songs up on my page today, they’re called ‘the gentle words you say’ and ‘wait and see’, both recorded at home and lovingly produced by Gav Mcgrath. If you’ve got time, pop by and let me know what you think. If you're around manchester I'm at night and day playing drums with shady bard on april 21st too. Would be cool to catch up!
