The Dawn was formed in late 2006 with members Sean, Jordan, Joe and Doyle. Sean played in the band Synchyas for many years with Jordan and has played exciting shows with his mentor and long time friend Kerry Tucker (Einstein's Sister) including a show playing alongside the bands Golden Smog and Soul Asylum in Minnesota. Sean and Jordan have been playing music together for many years in the band Synchyas and as side project Two Man Parade. The Dawn started by playing jamband covers and improvisational jams while the heavy influence of alternative country and roots rock worked its way into the mix. In the summer of 2007 the band found saxophonist Josh through mutual friends and has had the pleasure of having Kerry play with the band. The Dawn has played at the Redstone Room opening for Hello Dave and have also played at Bent River Brewery, Legend's and Theo's Java Club. The Dawn also played with Jim The Mule at the Capitol Theatre in Davenport, IA for their cd release party in 2008. In the summer of 2009 The Dawn changed their lineup with bass player Garrin Jost and drummer David Soliz.
