The Day Festival. Wow! How cool is it that we throw our own festival? I said it more than once this past weekend, “We’re doin it!”. It is truly amazing how each person brought their own talent to the event..it was true collaboration at work.

When I volunteered to be a street team promoter I had no idea that Stan was going to reel me into hospitality. I was simply trying to problem-solve for him and link him to folks that I knew had talent in the area of hospitality. Hospitality led to kid zone, which led to volunteer listing which led to whatever Stan needed from me. I gave all of myself as you did.

I knew that I was becoming part of something pretty special but it takes a lot of hard work to prepare for an event like this and I was not going to “get it” until I had experienced it. I was blown away by the talent on and off stage. From promotion, to printing, to playing, to coordinating, to decorating, to moving stuff, to announcing, to whatever…it was us…our love, our energy, our belief in what we were doing. It was such a joy, especially from a social work perspective to see a vision manifest itself through the labor of those who genuinely believe that what they are doing matters and is important. I saw this first hand and I saw it in the faces of our children.

OUR KIDS!! They got to see it. Hear it. Live it. Feel it. They got to experience what we do and why we do it. Our kids smiled all weekend. Got to meet each other. Played. Played so hard they were sweating and exhausted. They ran. They talked to people they didn’t know and trusted their environment. We gave our kids a vision of how it can be and I thank all of you for that. That is what mattered to me. I felt blessed this past weekend and it was reflected back to me in the smiles of our children.

I am just getting to know most of you on the level that I desire. I am truly fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from you. Thank you for one of the best weekends!

Love and light

One word Awsome!!!
Thanks for allowing us the honor of playing on the opening night. The whole weekend was a blast and my hat is off to the other players. Paul and I used to play regularly at Bonner's in a band that we had in the early eightys so I thought it was extra special to do it again after all these years.

Peace my friends
