The dead were founded in the early, cold and grey winter days of 2001. They haunted the world of the living ever since. The music is influenced by the different backgrounds of the unliving band members, including Rock'n'Roll, obscure 60garage Punk, Psychobilly Blues, Country and (Hard) Rock. The deadly zombie-combo scrambles it all together to come up with their own toxic brew of raw SWISS ALPINE ROCK'N'ROLL.
The Dead haunted the world of humans over and over again and played at many festivals and dark gone clubs all around Switzerland (e.g. Reithalle, l'Usine, Jazzkantine, Gaskessel, Sedel, Dynamo, Bikini Test, Industrie 45, Schüür, Gaswerk, Hirscheneck, Tap Tab, Rote Fabrik, Grabenhalle, ISC, Salzhaus, Fri-Son, Proger Bern, Kofmehl, Oxx, Himmel, Safari Beat Club) and aboard with bands like Baby Woodrose, Demented Are Go, Frentic Flinstones, Long Tall Texas, The Monsters, Tight Finks, Fuckadies, Texas Terry Bomb, Hillbilly Moon Explosion, The Masons, Moped Lads, Nguru, Reverend Beat-Man, Astro Zombies, Huckedicht, Bloodsucking Zombies from outer space, The Hormonauts and many more. In 2004 and 2007 The Dead toured through Germany and Czech and played in Belgium.
2004 the first album "FIESTA DE LOS MUERTOS" was released on the German label Crazy Love Records and is worldwide available. 2005 the second album "TAKE YOU HOME" was recorded with Admiral James T and came out on 808 records of Leech Redda in Switzerland in cooperation with Crazy Love Records for worldwide distribution. 2008 The Dead’s third album "THE DEAD ARE DEAD" was recorded with Admiral J. T. again. It's on Chop Records. At the same time the record was released The Dead began to split up. Due to different musical development, sickness, hospitalization, mental clinic and other diseases and in summer 2008 Johnny Bravo did quit the band and The Dead was definitely buried.
But as it is… once dead always dead. Vincenzo Muerto (Rhythem Guitar, Vocal) and Tomy Tombstone(Drums) couldn’t stop playing their raw music over and over again, together only the two of them, fucked up, in worst physical condition, depressed and blue. But thanks to the Lord, they found in early 2009 the two long gones Dr. Perdido (Lead Guitar, Harp, Back Vocals) and Diemito (Bass, Back Vocals), who joined the two broken down skeleton brothers down in their crypt. And as dead as dead live can be, the new members fit to the band like the glove to the hand. In spring 2009 the Dead rose with the new lineup from their graves, ready to haunt the world of the living with their new style of dead SWISS ALPINE ROCK'N'ROLL.

THE DEAD was founded in cold and grey 2001. They played their own poisoned mixture of sixties garage psychobilly punk and released the three records FIESTA DE LOS MUERTOS (Crazy Love Records), TAKE YOU HOME (808 / Leech Redda) and THE DEAD ARE DEAD (Chop Records). Due to different musical development the lineup changed in 2009: Johnny Bravo left the band and Vincenzo Muerto (vocals, guitar) and Tommy Tombstone (drums) met the two long goners Dr. Perdido (lead guitar, harp, back vocal) and Diemito (bass, back vocal) who joined THE DEAD in their dead existence. The two new deadliners fit to the zombie-combo like the tombstone to the grave and in 2009 and 2010 The Dead took their time to stay down in their crypt to write a bunch of new songs. In doing so they changed their musical style and came up with a new sound, containing a wide range of sixties garage punk, rock n roll, western cow punk, psychobilly, beat and tranced hoodoo rhythms – all shocked up and mixed together in the zombie-combo's own toxic brew of ALPINE ROCK GARAGE ROLL. In 2011 The Dead decided to press their new sounds into life and prepared themselves to record their new CD AT THE GRAVE INN (Subversive Records) at Admiral James T's Dalastudios. The new record turned out to be the bands most differentiated and bone swinging album and won a lot of variation with the possibilities that the new members brought into the band, including both a lead and a rhythm guitar and the sixties orientated back choirs. It's a variety that THE DEAD also manages to provide live in their wild and bone shaking shows. Over the years THE DEAD played more than a-hundred shows all over Switzerland (e. g. Reithalle Bern, l'Usine, Jazzkantine, Gaskessel, Sedel, Dynamo, Bikini Test, Industrie 45, Schüür, Gaswerk, Hirscheneck, Tap Tab, Rote Fabrik, Grabenhalle, ISC, Salzhaus, Fri-Son, Progr, Kof-mehl, Oxx, Himmel, Safari Beat Club) with skull slurping bands like Baby Woodrose, Demented Are Go, Frentic Flinstones, Long Tall Texas, The Monsters, Reverend Beat-Man, Texas Terry Bomb, Tight Finks, Fuckadies, Hillbilly Moon Explosion, Gutter Queens, The Masons, Moped Lads, Astro Zombies, Metallic Bananas, Huckedicht, Nguru, The Hormonauts, Bloodsucking Zombies from outer space, The Sea and many more. In 2004 and 2007 they toured through Germany and Czech and played at the legendary « Make Trouble At The Chappel Festival » in Brussels. Now at their 10 th anniversary with a new lineup and the latest CD in their luggage THE DEAD are ready to haunt the world of the living and to sweat their dead minds out their bloody bones. liebe pfingstgemeinde
auch dieses jahr gibt es wieder ein knochenbrechendes pfingstfest, wenn der heilige geist von oben auf uns herabströmt und rüttelt und schüttelt. auf unserer diesjährigen pilgerfahrt freuen wir uns göttlich, den engelberg zu besteigen und einen rast beim "halt auf verlangen" festival einzulegen, wo wir morgen
samstag 26.05. um 22h vor den sagenumwobenen lokalmatadoren JOLLY AND THE FLYTRAP unsere knochen schütteln dürfen.
besonders schön ist es dabei, in einer gemeinde spielen zu dürfen, in der nur ein mensch lebt - der ist zugleich verwalter, sozialarbeiter, gastwirt, dieb, gemeinderat und pastor in einer person.
und am allerheiligsten pfingstsonntag 27.05.
gehts dann weiter - und zwar spielen wir mit THE MONSIGNORE (rund um den bieler skulpteur, galerist, totenaufbahrungsmeister, musiker, dj, rotbart und und und monsignore dies - und den begnadeten treekillaz sänger) im RÖSSLI der REITHALLE (türe ab 20h). die monsignores tauften an ostern ihr neues singeli, wo wir beim releasegig im ufo (ex etage) in biel mittauftreten und -raufen konnten. das hat so spass gemacht, dass es nun an pfingsten die retourkutsche in der heiligen reithalle gibt. für alle nachtschwärmer ist auch der dirty rock n roll garage beat soul plattenleger VASEK THOMMY mit dabei - mit seinen sibirischen säbelzahntiegern.
und dann noch was, was nicht zu verpassen ist: The Black Godfather Mr. Rhythm ANDRE WILLIAMS spielt heute abend im MOKKA Thun! unterdessen 76 jahre alt - schon fast ein dead - mit weissem bart, samtanzug, kellenohrenschmuck, spiegelbrille, leuchtendem hemd, schuh und krawatte - kaum mehr fähig auf der bühne zu stehen, aber immer noch charmant lächelnd, die hüfte schwingend, singend, sprechend, schreiend - der schwerenöter des rocknrolls und soulman schlechthin! nach über 50 jahren musikgeschichte mit kulinarischen hits wie pass the biscuits, bacon fat, greasy chicken und songs wie mustang sally, shake your tailfeather, let me put it in und und und & zusammenarbeit mit leuten wie ike und tina, dem blinden pianospieler, the dirtbombs und john spencer etc, zudem mitbegründer von motow records und und und…ist er immer noch der grösste.
so get loose bruce & give me a gallon allen!
