The members of The Death of her Money formed a band in late 1997 in the Rhymney valleys where they practiced and wrote many songs under various names for around two years until they finally stuck with the name "Copius Kiffage", they started playing gig's around 1999 since they were not bothered about playing in front of an audience so soon but really only formed through boredom in the nights after school, Rhymney didn't/doesn't have much to offer. Their first gig was in Pontlottyn community centre for community music wales, a scheme designed to get teenagers into forming bands.
Kaskie eventually moved out of the valley's and to the city of Newport (not a city at the time) still making the trip to Rhymney every week to practice, Ian followed him out of the mountains not so long after but moving slightly further away to Swansea. Nicky being the only member who still lives in the valleys to this day.
The band eventually started practicing in Newport not letting the increase of travel distance phase them where they started to progress their sound.
They recorded a self titled album with funding from the new deal for musician's in 2002 with 100 copies made to be sold/given away to anyone who would touch it. It was a barrage of noise and weird post punk mixed with hardcore and metal. There were ten songs on the album clocking at exactly 45 minutes, one song was called "The Death of Her Money".
In 2003 the band were finding it increasingly difficult to practice which was effecting the writing of new material and slowed them down, literally to a hault for 6 months, when they returned to the practice room after their break their sound started to change and become more focused, with new songs and a new sound the feeling inside Copius Kiffage called for something new, a fresh start.
The Death of her Money formed in mid 2004 with a new direction and new sound, they played their first gig under the new name at Escape in Swansea with Envy (Japan) and local legend's and influencial Taint.
They recorded four new song's on a digital 8-track with Kirk Williams from Newport electronic/experimental band "Snork Maiden" which would be the "Shit Shaped/American Cemetary" 2 track demo.
The band played alot of local gig's supporting great local and international bands in 2005, getting better as a live band and continuously writing new songs and demoing everything that would bark out of their amp's.
At the start of 2006 they went to record with Jim Williams from local punk rock band "The Take" in his DIY studio underneath Cardiff central train station on a reel to reel 8 track. They recorded three songs two of which were released on the "Scandinavian Accent 7" vinyl on local DIY label Rat Patrol records.
The band then recorded three songs for the Adam Walton Radio 1 session with ex Dub War/Skindred member's Jeff and Ginge in Nott-in-pil studio Newport which was aired in late summer of 2006.
The band then hit the road for their first uk tour with Sheffield prog doomster's "Flatlands" and unofficial 3rd band on the tour in "Art of Burning Water".
When they returned from the tour they went straight back to Nott-in-pil studio to record their first full length titled "Spirit of the Stairwell" which was due for release late 2006 on Bristol label Superfi Records.
2007 was dedicated to more writing of new song's and awaiting the release of "Spirit". They toured the uk once again in spring playing with some great uk bands and doing two dates with US spazzers "An Albatross".
They finished the year by releasing the "Flood of Love E.P" with tracks taken from the album sessions through their own Suntreader Recordings label while the release of the album continued to be put on hold.
Febuary 2008 finally saw the release of "Spirit of the Stairwell" with a febuary tour of Ireland, Scotland and England to acompany the release.
The album is available via a collective release on Rat Patrol records, Superfi records and again they're own Suntreader recordings.
June saw lineup changes in the band with the departure of bassist Nicky, a new bassist was brought in named Alex Morgan who fitted in straight away. The last half of 2008 has consisted of weening Alex in and playing more local show's while also playing a few London shows with the likes of "This Will Destroy You".
They are currently demo'ing for their follow up to "Spirit of the Stairwell" with sight's of recording it proper at the start of 2009.
