Originally formed in late 1998 to question the role of NAFTA trade concessions in the rapidly increasing exportation of indigenous bluegrass motifs to our northern trade neighbors, The Death of Socrates has more recently focused on their original passion: the wanton and unsolicited expression of chain-gang style sorrows and heartbreak through twiddlesome, miching and often coal-themed Appalachian harmonies, melodies, and rhyme.
