The decent souls are a four piece from Motherwell, an area in Lanarkshire that once boomed with world trade due to the incredible demand for the strong steel it once mass produced, until thatcher wielded the sword, thankfully some of this solid steel lives on and plays its part as the backbone of “the decent souls”, our band have been jamming and gigging for the best part of 4 years now, a lengthy past list of venues in and around Glasgow have already allowed us to grace there stages and to cram the sound desks and pa systems with our electronic dance indie rock knees up lively sounds the majority of them inviting us back and therefore allowing us to hammer the circuit once more.
The songs are written by the bands lead guitarist Stephen ‘teebie’ Langford, teebie has put together a string of tunes that would merit a place in any greatest hits album, ranging from acoustic tracks such as ‘the weather’, ‘look at the pain’, ‘outside the lines’, ‘do you recall’ and the melodically structured stunning epic ‘epidemic’ which consists of 7 minutes of rhythmic bliss and lyrics that remind us why the song was written and worthy of a tear in the eye, then the guitars are crashing on to rocky numbers such as ‘just jive’ and ‘king of the throne’ and more recently, ‘starting to believe’, ‘keep on walkin’ and ‘remember the time’ the band also have a handful of tunes that lift the knees, songs such as ‘can you feel it’, ‘go’ and fantastic show starter’s ‘filtrum’ and fans favourite ‘concept 2 twenty’.
The other band members are not just here to make up the numbers, david goodfellow the lead vocalist provides the band with a front man who’s voice carry’s the well structured music melodically and harmoniously to the ears of the audience, with his own sound although feedback tells us his voice echo’s that of a certain bobby gillespie from time to time.
Ross Robison the bass guitarist supplies the bass beats in the bar, and can be heard thumb slapping his way through the set playing the odd solo on the four strung geetar, ross also has been jamming with teebie since there school days so they both have a great understanding of each other.
Michael mullen or “drumstick mick” as the locals like to call him, is the worlds loudest drummer, well if he aint then he’s close, mick bashes the drums like there’s no tomorrow and can often be seen whirling around on his stool like a Tasmanian devil on steroids, cutting his way through a set of sticks per song.
These four lads have the energy and efficiency to become one of scotlands shining lights and also put Motherwell and Lanarkshire on the map and back in the british music scene, so why not pop along to a gig or even check out our myspace and bebo profiles, we agree that we may not be everyone’s cup of tea so all feedback will be accepted with open arms good or bad.
