The Decline Story, so far ......
written by Bruce Horrowitz
Hello there, so you've come to hear the story of The Decline? Well buckle up and get comfortable because im bored and have a dictionary at my disposal and ten of the quickest fingers this side of Beiruht... The Decline were brought together in year 7, and though they did not yet know it the plans they laid back then to form a band would in fact carve out a path in musical history that would span 4 decades and eventually drive one of the members to insanity, and another to suicide.
Okay, year 7. Harry R and Harry B were intrested in making a band. They had assigned themselves the roles of bassist and drummist. Upon going into year 7 a fresh faced Harry R met an equally fresh faced Charlie. They got to know eachother by way of questionnaires handed out by form teacher Mr.McGrath whom some would credit the coming together of The Decline to, others don't. Somewhere along the lines the Harry's' plan of making a band was dropped into conversation and it then became apparent that Charlies friend Darren played guitar. The 4 were soon introduced to one another and Charlie was drafted in as Vocalist. The band were complete...... for a short while!!!
The glory was not to last though, almost as easily as the band had come together it seemed they would just as easily dissolve into the abyss of 'I wonder what happened to them....'. Charlie announced to the band that he was going to quit and to some, this may have seen like the end for The Decline, there very own drummer said the following ''When Charlie told us he was going to quit it felt as though my soul had been emersed in a black carpet, i cried 1000 thousand tears on the inside and i'm none to ashamed to say a few broke out from the orifices in my face we know as eyes.'' Said Harry Babbington at the time. However, determined as a one legged breast that just won't give up The Decline stuck it out and found a new singer, a one, Peter Rickards. The Decline, like so many other young bands, set about learning covers of Green Day songs and played two xmas concerts with Peter, but this was not to last, Peter was soon out of the band, well not that soon, he was in it for 2 years but nevertheless, Peter was out. It seemed as though The Decline were not destined to be until Charlie was again drafted in to record some vocals for a few songs. It was soon after this, he was convinced to play second guitar in the band now known as THE DECLINE!!!!!!!!!
This formation lives on to this day and The Decline are responsible for some of the most influencial songs in histroy, or they would be if people would actually listen to them but oh well, and so my friends comes to an end this chapter of The Decline Story, but fear not, i sense this is not the end for our Fangle-Dangle Foursome. Until next time senior, bring in the peace xxxxxxxxxxxx
