The Departed started out at the hemlock (2003) one night when Michelle and Karina’s drunken paths collided. Both girls knew they wanted to play in a band and were willing to put in the effort to make it happen. They spent many a nights writing simple punk ballads. Michelle on guitar and Karina on bass. It wasn’t until 05’ that the girls were ready for a drummer and we’re introduced to Nikki Stix of The Husbands (and the hemlock tavern! who ironically served them the drinks that started the band). Later came Lani Dagger on lead guitar. Despite the fact that they started off knowing nothing. These ladies had one thing in common they all wanted to play good punk rock tunes. And through all their hard work were given their first shot opening up for the Adolescents at Annie’s Social Club. Since then they’ve done a few dates on warped tour, and have played with the likes of NOFX, Dead to Me, Strike Anywhere, Filthy Thieving Bastards, Thee Merry Widows, and Fabulous Disaster. Just to name a few. In 07’ Nikki opted to leave the band to pursue other interests, since then Tony aka Buster has come onto the scene and has added his own new flavor to the band. While the line up has changed The Departed still continue to create music that will get you off your feet dancin’ and send you stumbling home.

So, I was driving next to a hearse on the freeway today. I was looking at how much room was in the back and thought to myself "that would make an awesome tour ride". then I thought "holy shit! The Departed should tour in a hearse!!!"... Just a thought XOXO

Wow, Nikki your leaving. This is pretty unexpected. Well, as long as your doing what you love, I wish you the best of luck in all your pursuits and much joy ;) As for the rest of the band I hope that this hasn't put any more of a delay on your split.
