The Rough Bark Candyroasters started as The Deryls, and are still Derylish in some senses. Where The Deryls are electric, the Rough Bark Candyroasters are acoustic; where the Deryls are punkabilly, the Rough Bark Candyroasters are named after a squash; where The Deryls sound sort of like the Dead Kennedys playing Hank Williams, the Rough Bark Candyroasters sound sort of like Hank Williams playing the Dead Kennedys.
Our vocal and acoustic style has been described as "musically magnanimous". Our fusion was born from the UGA anthropology department. We like whiskey, but agree that whiskey, like Derrida, can be taken too far. Our music is a celebration of the common struggles that all humans face. We trade instruments frequently. One of our shows may include electric and acoustic guitars, drums of various types, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, electric and acoustic bass, washtub bass, fiddle, harmonica, reed flute, and kazoo.
