In 2006, two guys from Dallas, Texas, USA began creating music with fans of late 70's/early 80's post-punk/new wave in mind, calling their project "The Detached." Their influences include Gary Numan & Tubeway Army, Bauhaus, Devo, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, along with hundreds of Punk and Metal bands from their formative teenage years.
The Detached's first track, "Nexus Zero", was written as homage to Tubeway Army - intended as a "pastiche" of Gary Numan's early work, primarily from the "blue album" to "The Pleasure Principle." Subsequent songs are not "tributes" (or "ripoffs", as the case may be) intended Numan pastiche; rather these songs are creations in which The Detached draw from their musical influences. while developing and expressing their own unique sound.
The Detached hopes to have an album's worth of material by end of 2007.
I think I just listened to Hate the Way five times in a row. "here in my car, I feel safest of all" lol. Great track. Love them all, actually. Keep up the excellent work!
Thank you for welcoming Deviant UK into your circle of friends, lovers and other assorted miscreants. You are clearly individuals of considerable taste...we have been expecting you.
We obviously like something about you. But then we like very bad things and our intentions are rarely honourable.
The Deviant UK album +barbed wire star+ will tear a hole in you in Summer 2006.
I tried holding out to get a song written about me, and then i got nervous, what if you wrote a mean song. I REALLY REALLY LIKE IT! You guy's sound really great. I put one of your songs on my profile
