Sounds Like
Surely this is a matter of opinion? We play a lot of less well known covers from the 1920s to 1990s, so what we sound like depends on which one we are doing - we like to be versatile and vary the genres and arrangements from the originals a bit. See our set list library under the Influences link for songs we do / have done.
Four of us met between Sept and Oct 2007 in The Golden Lion Pub Lancaster where there is an Open Mic Night every Tuesday night. So thanks to Matt for running the Open Mic so well, and to the pub owners Jon and Macy, without whom The Detectives would not exist. We chose the name 'Detectives' because one of the first songs we tried to play together, and got a good groove going in was 'Watching the Detectives' by Elvis Costello.
Answer to most FAQ: "No, we are not detectives in real life."
Hi guys, we noticed a few bits of publicity on one or two sites re our 11th Oct bash which we didn't post, and guessed it was you! Thanks, that was really helpful. It was a great day, tremendous fun and raised £551.77 for the Homeless Christmas Shelter.
Hey, you guys need any more recordings for this site. I can chop up some greggy stuff, let me know. Haven't seen you for a while, hope all is well. Looks like you have a couple of 'residences' lined up. Hows the Park thing panning out??
