The Device sound is fresh, thoughtful, well-crafted songwriting a-la Fountains of Wayne/Wilco/Weezer blended with neuances of straight four-on-the-floor pop. The band put out their first EP 'Hey industry!' in 2005 and after 3 studio sessions and a few long breaks and post production work at Propeller Studios in Oslo, Norway, The Device finally released the self titled full length in April 2008.
The Device was formed in 2003 by John Ireland and a few other post-punk D.C./Fairfax scenesters: Chuck Andrada (Smartbomb, Quitter UK), Arthur Myhre Scott (Swagman, the Freshmakers) and Eric Vislay (BIOHIO, Quitter UK). Other pals who have recorded/performed under the Device banner: Jawn Long(Iceboxers, Smartbomb), Matt Rehfuss, Patrick Williams and Marc Capponi.
The Device project is currently dormant while the members are involved in other projects. John Ireland has formed a trio called Helo while Chuck and Eric are playing in the power rock band Hypersonic Secret. Arthur lives in Oslo and is working on a solo project and the fabulous band Katzenjammer.
