A lot can be accomplished in the span of a short year. The Dialogue, an indie-pop-rock four-piece from Baltimore, MD, released their debut EP titled, “All I Thought Impossible,” in May 2009. The release was highlighted with a performance at Towson, MD's Recher Theatre which packed in nearly 800 fans.
Since the release they have built a resume that most bands spend an entire career to achieve. They joined All American Rejects and Shiny Toy Guns on their stop of the “I Wanna Rock” tour, which drew over 10,000 people to Towson University. The Dialogue have also showcased for industry heavyweights alongside The Matches at New York City’s famed Mercury Lounge, in addition to performing direct support to a variety of artists, from Girl Talk to All Time Low.
This is what makes The Dialogue so unique and vital in today's music market. They create a hybrid which serves as a middle line - digestible enough for the fans of All American Rejects or Taking Back Sunday, but complex and genuine enough for the fans of Kings of Leon or Death Cab for Cutie. The Dialogue also understands the importance of the DIY-ethic and creating an online presence. The band's MySpace page saw an increase of 6,000 new fans in the month of July and this momentum is building.
Continuing with the DIY-mentality, The Dialogue self-booked their own month long summer tour, spanning the entire east coast from Florida to Maine. Tour dates included a short run with indie buzz bands, Anarbor (Hopeless Records) and Sparks the Rescue (Fearless Records), and a hometown show promoted by Baltimore's legendary 98 Rock over the landmark Inner Harbor.
The Dialogue continue pressing forward. "Every day is a battle in this fickle music business climate," says bass player Justin Goodman. "We spend each day communicating with our fans online and on the street. We're letting them know to latch on now because The Dialogue is here to stay." The band has already written an album worth of new material which they have worked into their setlist on tour. They plan to record once their summer plans wrap up.
