The Evolution of Ricky Diamond:
"Ricky Diamond" began as a social networking alias taken on by a Massachusetts native who had set foot, as well as his residence in Winter Park, Florida. He underwent the study of recording arts for a year and a half at Full Sail University, (then known Full Sail Real World Education), where he acquired music editing, mixing and productions skills and techniques which he would utilize in addition to his song writing skills throughout his time in school. After receiving his associate of science, he would continue networking and move on to meet future partners in the entertainment industry as well as those kept close to him during his schooling.
In Late 2006 Ricky got together with artist/songwriter/producer LB ( http://www.myspace.com/lbmusicpage )and took a dive into his pop side. The outcome, two tracks originally intended to be released under the entity, Soul Kreme which would soon lead to being kept under construction as Ricky wanted to focus on a solo career and of a different style. The first of the two, "The Bounce" is a synth based, funked out r&b club friendly dance track which had and still has everyone close to the Soul Kreme team shaking booty. The Bounce was followed up by the NONSTOP, ULTIMATE, POP PERFECTION-laced track "Money, Sex, Drugs, Sex, Music" or more often called "Money, Sex". This is the one that will put the two over the top worldwide for sure with the right amount of time and marketing. The beat supplied by the multi-talented LB wreaks of catchy bass lines, horns and strings as well as a bass drum that thumps your speakers like crazy. Another track with a short appearance by Diamond is the fun and high held spirits influenced, "Beautiful Day", too produced by LB. Look out for their split long play album coming soon.
The History of "The Bouyoups"
Ricky Diamond kicked it off so sweet in January of 2007 with the debut of his self written and produced 6 feet underground smash, "The Bouyoups". What does it mean? We don't knowyoups. It's bass line, however, draws listeners in as a mysterious, "where does it take us next" vibe. The beat surfaced one year earlier before the idea of Ricky Diamond, "the artist" had even come into play. Meanwhile his vicious lyrical content sends you into a land of comic relief and confusion. The history of "Bouyoups" dates back to 2003 where Mr. Diamond himself coined the meaningless term and turned it into a jingle which gained instant success and praise from all whose ears it entered. As soon as the first verse kicks in up until "that kit kat skat" was originally recorded in 2004 with and by Rawblivion (http://www.myspace.com/xrawblivion), as a freestyle under the short lived alias Joey Gunz. Recently Mr. Diamond has rerecorded the song with his long time friend and audio engineer/producer Bee Gee Vaux, of with whom it was originally recorded and mixed. Soon it will be released on his split LP with LB (mentioned earlier). Bouyoupmania continues to run erratically throughout the internet as well as mix cds and ipods around the world.
Since "Bouyoups", Ricky Diamond has slowly but surely begun to spread the name, image and music throughout the United States, as well as internationally. With his second release the infectious, "Is Everyone..." he tackles a more in depth subject which still has not much justification except the mere fact that it's a great dance song. With a hook so strong you could reel in a shark he pokes fun at the idea of feeling a bit out of place in his masculinity and wants to pursue the role of a woman, but with a little twist. He wants to experience same sex relations and day to day lifestyle as a lesbian. It's not much to anyone's surprise that he would send a message of insecurity or rather just being unsure of what it is we want in life, however teamed up with Mr. Benjamin Gregory Vauxenshpiel (aka Bee Gee Vaux) they demolish any reason to turn away from a gut feeling of just saying what it is that shocks the masses. And so cleverly they have pulled it off with a great novelty song which shows just how fun and capturing senseless situations in the form of music can be. Babygirl heats up the track with the simple, yet breathtaking breakdown where she chants
"I like girls, that look like boys". A favorite of all who know it and when performed live, beauty in itself.
Following up "Lesbian" was a more personal song still kept in the genre of electronica/dance but with a throwback to a late 80's dark disco beat. The autobiographical "Cocaine" tells a story of a woman who lures a man in with her goods only to turn her back on you hypothetically speaking, when you have turned your back literally speaking. Lady miss JaJa is the main character in this story. Ultimately it's about a lesson learned the hard way. Never trust a smile, pretty face, or beautiful voice, because poison lies inside the delicious, attractive fruit. It's the story of a female hustler who had an opportunity to leave the streets but instead ran back with a soon-to-end profit. In this case two mobile phones that did not belong to her.
Shortly after the mix of cocaine hit myspace so didn't a very short lived project known as the Burger Boys (http://www.myspace.com/specialssauce / http://www.myspace.com/trypsin). It featured Ricky Diamond on a club mix of Timbaland's "The Way I Are" where D.O.E.'s rap was taken out and in less than 5 minutes Ricky D pulled a hot 8 bars out of his ass to throw on the track. It's definitely a great club mix and can be found as a bonus track on the single version of "Hit Single".
IN 3D: The Dirty Diamond Demo
Released in late 2007 Ricky threw together two more songs to complete his first self produced Demo short play album. Sold at local shows and given to djs around the city of orlando (all of who yet to play or even express their interest for it), In 3D: The Dirty Diamond Demo showcased the dark hip hop "Hit Single" and suspenseful yet relieving, no pun intended, organ driven, "T.U.B.P.S.F.". Completely set aside from each other message wise, the delivery of the two songs are strong. Hit Single get's the party started, where T.U.B.P.S.F. presents the wicked and comedic genius of Ricky Diamond through crass bathroom humor. Produced back to back, both tracks induce a feeling of being stuck in a hollow cave, scared almost. It's as if Ricky Diamond was at a point of creating a beat that creeps up on you, yet all you want to do is dance your way out.
Ricky continues to grace Orlando as well as the central Florida area with his stage presence and musical intuition. He will be booking local gigs as well as out of state and soon international. He will be teaming back up with LB in the studio to create a handful of songs to be chosen for a split LP including new mixes of current tracks from both artists. Look out for it.
