The American blues experience... blended with aged bourbon.
The Dirty Bourbon Blues Band was created in late 2006 as a testament to two friends' love of the blues. Seth City and Pete Griffith had both played for years in hard rock and heavy metal bands, but one night over adult beverages discovered that they both had started their music careers playing the blues. With the help of their good friend Gopi Joaquim, they started creating their own modern take on the blues. The rest, as they say, was history.
Two years later, the band has played countless shows ranging from weddings to motorcycle runs, from pig roasts to opening for national acts, from tiny pubs to large clubs. In the process, they have recorded an EP of original tunes, and aquired countless fans. They continue to tighten their stage show and expand their repertoire, and are currently writing and recording a full length album. ..
Vocals and drums are handled by scene veteran Pete Griffith, formerly of bands such as Buford and the Smoking Section, Hawg, Frozen Brownie Legs, Kings Jealousy, and Heatseeker. With a voice reminiscent of Greg Allman, the rhythmic chops of Mitch Mitchell, and a keen sense of humor, Pete pulls off the difficult role of drumming frontman.
Guitar duties are handled by former Heatseeker guitarist Seth City. As the primary writer for the band, Seth channels an exhaustive blues library and puts a modern twist on it to create something new, but familiar. On stage, his soulful chord work and searing solos will thrill fans of guitar pyrotechnics masters such as Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
In the summer of 2008, the trio became a quartet with the addition of Zac Walker on saxophone. A veteran of numerous groups, most recently Without a Hitch, Zac adds a touch of Maceo to the group, filling out the band's sound with his horn hits, and adding a touch of class with his tasty solos.
In the fall of 2008 the band parted ways with long time bass player and friend Gopi Joaquim. To replace him, the band tapped another Without a Hitch alum, Adam Smith. His funky five string flavor keeps the band on track while Pete and Seth push the limits of their instrumental jam sessions.
Give this group a bottle of bourbon and a stage, and it will not be a night soon forgotten!
