We are The Dirty Hand Shakes. Here are a few things you might like to know about us:
1. We used to be called The Shakes, however as there are approximately 627 other bands called The Shakes, we thought it best to change ours.
2. The boys in the band are: Greg Burgess (bass), Kevin Anderson (lead guitar, backing vocals), Fraser Bateman (vocals), Alan Hay (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Scott Morrison (drums).
3. Kevin and Greg met at school in Elgin and then went to college in Aberdeen. It was at college where they met Alan and Fraser. After a year of the odd late night drink here and there, the idea to form a band came about, in order to, maybe, get some free drink!
4. We like to listen to records buy The Beatles, Elvis, The Stones, The Undertones and Oasis. We sometimes listen to other bands too.
5. We’ve played with some fine bands, such as The Hazy Janes, The Hussy’s, The Ronelles, The Little Kicks, Five Fifteen and Tippi (The Hedrons). We’ve played with some not so fine bands but we won’t mention them.
6. Some nice people at Northsound One, Northsound Two, Original 106, Schmu FM and Waves radio have played our songs. Some nice people at The Evening Express and The Northern Scot have written about us.
7. We have released two Eps, “I Love Julie Newmar” and “Confessions of a Binge Drinker”. You can download them from iTunes (or any other digital service) or buy them from One Up Records, Aberdeen or Sound and Vision, Elgin.
8. We can often be found enjoying a quiet pint in The Prince of Wales. If you see us, don’t be afraid to say ‘hello’.
