  • Bio

Just as it was with the universe, time, and God- The Dirty Lowdown has no definitive beginning. Scholars believe the first time TDL ever appeared to a crowd with means to document the hail storm of Rock'N'Roll that was presented before them, was around 67 A.D. The press from the show: "Holy $^&t! That literally just rocked my face off of my face!" - Ottoman Sun The lineup we see today has come from a more traceable background. Brothers, Josh "Sunshine" McGill and Rooster McGill began playing and writing music at early ages. The brothers worked on these songs with an ever changing series of bands. Pink Lemonade, 6 Wooden Nickels, Red Wilson's Groove and Sequoia Nation all were birthed and later terminated at the hands of these Irish siblings. They could sense that something was waiting for them. They had a feeling. A feeling deep inside. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. ohhh yeah. So the brothers McGill set out to collect the musicians needed to be a Rock'n'Roll Powerhouse!!! the group needed some bottom. And bottom, well bottom they got. Mr Justin "JMurda" Marshall proved to be more than a fantastic bassist, he also dabbles in synchronized swimming- which used to be a huge part of the band's show until the accident. Upon the addition of Jmurda to the rhythm section, the nameless group of misfits felt a purpose. That purpose was to rock, and to rock hard. The objective was clear. The plan crystal. The world once again met The Dirty Lowdown Since the awakening of this HOLY GRAIL of Rock'N'Roll- John the LogJammer McGill has bowed out of the band. With his departure came the newest members of TdL- Brandon "BigToe" Roshto and "Professor Smooth Walk" Jon Coxe. the orgin of The Dirty Lowdown is still unclear. But we know one thing. They Rock. They Rock hard. And if ever you are in the market, TDL provides sexy music. Sexy music that is sexy. ....................SC Band Calendar Being Released October 6 at The Free Times Music Crawl!.. .......... ..............Myspace Layouts..........Myspace Codes..........Myspace Generators..........Myspace Backgrounds......

Bio:

The Dirty Lowdown began with brothers Josh “Sunshine” McGill and Nick “Rooster” McGill writing, composing, and perfecting original music in the comfort of their Columbia, SC home in the late 1990s. The two would eventually form a group with some friends in high school, playing parties, school functions, and shows at West Columbia’s New Brookland Tavern. When the lead guitar player suddenly quit the band one night just hours before a gig at the NBT, the brothers asked their uncle, John “Logjammer” McGill if he could fill the spot. John gladly filled in for the show, and thus became a permanent fixture, filling the music with catchy hooks and striking leads. Early incarnations of the new band included A Single Step and Pink Lemonade. Several years and a few bass players later, Justin “J Murda” Marshall, an old friend of the brothers McGill, moved back to Columbia. Josh asked Marshall, a former lead guitar player, how he felt about trying the bass guitar out. Justin has since found his home with the instrument. With this final addition to the lineup, the band’s sound was given a solid backbone while adding more stage presence to the show. The Dirty Lowdown are known most for their high energy, three plus hour shows that all fans of true rock ‘n’ roll music can appreciate. The members play with the attitude that if they are not having fun on stage, then neither is anyone in the crowd watching them. The band’s sound has evolved profoundly since the beginning, now spanning several musical genres. The Dirty Lowdown promise a memorable, lengthy, energetic set each night they perform.
