REVIEWS:
Described as “Detroit garage rock with the urgency of mid-seventies New York punk and L.A. skinny tie power pop”
Recently compared to The Rolling Stones by famed british imprésario Simon Napier-Bell (former manager of Marc Bolan, The Yardbirds, and Wham!).
“Their live act is everything you would hope for after hearing the album. It all boils down to this: if you love unpretentious, catchy, balls-to-the-wall garage rock that you can get up and dance to, get this album and go see the Dirty Novels when they come to your town. All they need is somebody to hook them up with Little Steven and have them play a couple of his garage-a-thons and they'll be packing ‘em in at dingy rock clubs from coast to coast.” – www.lucidculture.wordpress.com
“Cool band from the Southwest, coming on like the more recent Makers stuff, which I love. Some Gun Club style influence creeping in as well. Dug the first six tunes but the last four are killer: total glam punk chestnuts to finish out the record. Great stuff! Seems to sound better the more I listen to it. A band to watch, for sure, if you like glam punk.” –Mike Frame http://www.razorcake.org/site/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=9755
“The Dirty Novels, have returned for more with 10 new tracks and I couldn't be happier about this. "Pack Your Pistols" continues right where they left off. The rowdy, rock-n-roll that you have come to love from these guys is back and better than ever. The best way to really describe this album is like this; you know how there are bands trying to sound like they are from the 70's and failing miserably, well The Dirty Novels sound like a product from that era that was actually there alongside bands like the Clash, Buzzcocks, Dickies, etc… To put it in simple terms, these guys are actually good. Straight and to the point vocals, choppy guitars, and bass lines that 9 times out of 10 catch your attention and drag you right along with the song. This is a solid album and a must have for your collection. Punk rock with a dash of rock-n-roll influence is the way to my heart and the Dirty Novels have made there way to it. No problem. I was at your show at Burt's on the 14. I must say I've seen your guys name at venues here but never went. I'm glad I finally got to see you.
