   About The Disco Chickens
THE DISCO CHICKENS WERE FROM SAN FRANCISCO. THEY EVOLVED OUT OF THE MID-60'S GROUP THE PSYCHEDELIC AMERICANS, WHOSE 2 RECORDS ARE NOW SO RARE, THEY GO FOR THOUSANDS. IT WAS POTSIE OR POTZIE KATZ & ANDY RUSSEL'S BAND. POTSIE WAS A POET/ARTIST/PERFORMANCE ARTIST AS WELL. HE MOVED TO BOSTON IN THE EARLY 70'S. ANDY WAS NOT FAR BEHIND. POTSIE MET RABBI CECIL HOROWITZ AT A POETRY READING. THE CHICKENS WERE FORMED SOON AFTER. AFTER THE 2ND ALBUM, CECIL LEFT DUE TO ARTISTIC DIFFERENCES. THE BAND WAS A MESS AFTERWARDS. THERE WERE OTHER SHORT TERM MEMBERS. SUCH AS THE LEGENDARY SLAWGIRL EAGLEOUTS, WITH WHOM THEY RECORDED THE 7" "WE LIKE FEET"/"MEATBALL HAIRDRESSER".
