Influences
Sade, k.d. lang, Billie Holiday, Jamie Cullum, Patsy Cline...aww heck, just look at most of the Diva's Top Friends to get a sense of what inspires and moves her musically.
Sounds Like
Tracy's vocal stylings have been compared to k.d. lang, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, and Bonnie Raitt. She prefers to let the listener make up their own mind.
About Tracy The Celtic Diva - The Official Music Page
Tracy Mellor was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, the only/adopted child of an English father and an American mother. After searching for her birth parents, she learned she was of Scottish ancestry. She began singing from an early age, and participated in choir both in Junior High and High School. Her first solo outing was singing "Blackbird" by The Beatles when she was just 12 years old. From there she was bitten by the performance bug and has never looked back.
Tracy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Davis in 1992, and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from the California State University at Sacramento, where she graduated with top honors, Phi Kappa Phi, in 2001. She is also a noted poet, having published two books - "Walk Backwards In Your Mind" in 2007 and "More" in 2009, to favorable reviews. Furthermore, Tracy is a very passionate and dedicated volunteer with NAMI (National Alliance On Mental Illness), working with the In Our Own Voice Program as a presenter, sharing her experience, strength and hope with others in regards to living successfully with mental illness. For more information on NAMI, please stop by their website: www.nami.org. She currently resides in Olympia, Washington.
Tracy's style and repertoire are diverse, but she describes herself as a "frustrated torch singer" as she is usually drawn to dramatic ballads. Her vocal influences include but are not limited to k.d. lang, Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline, and Annie Lennox.
***If you are a composer who needs someone to cover your material, a band/recording project in need of a vocalist (lead singer and/or background), or simply someone to sing the hook/chorus of your song, please send a private message with your contact details (held in strict confidence). Tracy is extremely flexible, adaptable, and most importantly, very professional. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE!!!***

“Dance”
“The expression of love, grace an elegance A movement of intimacy, empowerment, romance Riding the crest of an ocean wave Gliding through the air on a breezy day My body on Earth my soul reaches away To Heaven. The religion of rhythm A moth to a candle A key to a slave of Pleasure and pain I take my first emancipated steps Freedom This is my chance. That’s where I go When I Dance.”
