The Dixe Rex Band started when Dave and Brian wandered into a bar where Bart was hosting an acoustic jam at in 1997. Bart started sitting in with their band (The Sly Dogz) a little and we remained in touch while he was on a sabbatical getting his proverbial crap together out in West Texas.
Upon Barts return to the Dallas area in 2000 Dixie Rex started a jam night at Hiccup's in Lewisville. Hiccup's went belly up so we moved half a mile down 121 to Daddy Rabbit's Pub and spent 2 years there every Thursday playing for beer. People started coming, and then more people, then bars started booking us, and we were nominated for a "Terry Award" for Best Club Band in Fort Worth in 2006.
Over the last 6 years, Dixie Rex played almost every venue in the DFW area. In 2006 they released their self titled CD "Dixie Rex" (recorded live at Love and War In Texas). You can pick this CD up on OurTracks.com ( http://ourtracks.com/album.php?id=386 ). They are currently working on their next release.
