   The DIY Factory's Blurbs
About me:
The 2nd Annual DIY Factory was a blast!

WHAT IS THE DIY FACTORY?

The DIY Factory is an annual celebration of creativity that brings together a diverse group of cutting edge independent craftsters, artisans, designers, and musicians to showcase their talents to the general public in a market type setting. It gives many people their first opportunity at being a and allows those that are "old hands" at selling their goods a fresh and new type of market to connect to the community.

The 2nd annual DIY Factory showcased 50+ alternative arts and crafts vendors epitomizing the Do-It-Yourself ethic.

The fashion show featured a range of emerging to established local designers from practical to fantastical.

Established local musicians from an assortment of genres provided the musical entertainment, and a local dance troupe performed for the audience as well.

This year we added a Community Information and Action Area to our set up. There, you were able to obtain information from local organizations that reflect the DIY ethics, promote the arts, fashion and music scene, as well as non-profits.

We even provided materials and direction at a free Make-n-Take table for guests of all ages to get their craft on!

In addition Greater Austin Garbage Arts hosted a Swap-a-Rama on site with guest designers to help patrons recycle donated clothing into unique fashions.

The first 100 guests received a free hand silk-screened Goody Bag stuffed with some great loot from our vendors and sponsors!

More information can be found at www.thediyfactory.org or by contacting Missy at info@thediyfactory.org.

Our friends over at Electric Promotions have built us a brand spankin’ new website that rocks! Check it out and bookmark our NEW url: www.thediyfactory.org.

Win tickets to Art Outside this weekend! http://bit.ly/hFZqR

ACL rocked, but there is NO time to rest... Art Outside starts Friday!

Featuring musicians like Wine and Revolution, Suzanna Choffel, Freq Nasty and 62 other acts across three stages, over 100 visual artists ranging from photographers to jewelry-designers, film shorts by Austin Underground Film Society, on-site yoga and acrobatic training, DIY craft demos, fashion show by Rene Geneva, fire dancing performances and much more, Art Outside is an unforgettable, full-sensory art adventure. Art Outside also makes a special effort to reach out to families, and will offer interactive earth-friendly projects, storytelling, and a variety of arts and crafts workshops for children at this year's event.

Since its inception in 2004, Art Outside presented this year by Art Seen Alliance has played a significant role in shaping Texas' vibrant art and music community. By moving creative works from inside gallery walls to an outdoor setting with open sky and wild environs, Art Outside challenges guests to rethink the way they view art, fostering an environment where no genre is off-limits, no medium left unexplored.

In addition to camp ground privileges for full-weekend participants, Apache Pass offers RV parking and on-site shower facilities for guests, as well as music performance areas, a cantilevered stage over the San Gabriel river, and tents for participating artists and attendees.
