Bursting onto the Boston scene in the Summer of 2008, The Doctors Fox bring a refreshing dose of different. With tight orchestrations, quirky chord progressions, and genre-bending songwriting, the Doctors Fox keep audiences on their toes with diverse and danceable sets. The Doctors Fox also have a thing about writing in the third person so that will cease now.
Our Music can most briefly be described as Eclectic Rock. It can be least briefly described as a metaphoric burrito of rock, jazz, bluegrass, klezmer, reggae, funk, bossa nova, and do-wop. We choose a burrito metaphor, as opposed to the more traditional "Melting-Pot", because unlike a melting pot, in which each ingredient melds together to make an indistinguishable new flavor, within the burrito, each flavor maintains its integrity, while also contributing to the collective flavor of each bite.
Similarly, our musical flavors are given a chance to stand alone, while also fusing together. On the other hand, we are not "Fusion". We're more like a bad case of ADHD except when we use the word bad, it means "wicked cool."
We perform most often with electric instrumentation, but we also perform acoustic versions of all of our songs and have recently played at acoustic shows at SOWA Sundays and The Lowell Folk Festival.
In January 2009, we self-released our first EP, "Free to Consume." Since then, we have been gigging 3-5 times a month, locally and regionally, playing a variety of venues - Bars and Clubs, Farmers Markets, and Coffee Shops.
Our first full-length album, "Plural Non-Possessive", will be released in October of 2009.
We always want new friends so give us a holler.
