D. C. Bloom ... Geoff Pemble ... C. Hunter Jones ... Rick Thiele ... Kurt Sayce ... Peder Maarbjerg
Now available on CDbaby.com! D.C. Bloom's solo debut, Simpler Times A-Wastin'
Influences
The speeches of William McKinley ... the poetry of Hank Williams ... the stage presence of Miss New Jersey 1974 ... a truckload of art ... and the killer abs of Rick Thiele
Sounds Like
middle-aged spirit ... we're out of tune ... Allison Kraus meets Al Kooper ... the adled croonings of a love-starved lounge singer ... a reason to visit Topeka ... you look - absolutely stunning!
Theyve been called a folkier Last Train Home, a rootsier Barenaked Ladies,
and one fan even claimed their songs sound like stuff from the Grateful
Deads American Beauty.
But if you ask the Dog Waggers, theyll tell you that musical comparisons like
that are pretty cool but dont really describe their style. They call it a
Northern Virginia gridlock rockin, Lone Star State longin, front porch
pickin kinda thing. Simply put, original Americana.
Chasin Tales features 13 original tunes co-written by Dog Wagger
founders, D. C. Bloom and Geoff Pemble, who both lend vocals and guitar to the Wagger mix. Hunter Jones, keyboard/banjo/harmonica/steel maven penned Guess Its True, which closes the CD. The rest of the pack includes Rick Thiele on bass, Kurt Sayce on percussion and Peder Maarbjerg on mandolin.
The Dog Waggers yips and yelps cover themes of the longing for home and the lure of new horizons, countered with skewed lyrical allusions to in-grown toes, equine terrorism, and failed careers in the fast food industry.
The band appeared on Des Moines television during the Iowa State Fair,
playing and talking about their novelty song God Save the Pork Queen, which was inspired by a Wall Street Journal article on the shrinking status
afforded pork queens a tradition at county and state fairs across the
country.
Since forming in 2004, the Dog Waggers have shared the stage with
Eliza Gilkyson, Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines, Caroline Herring and Adam Carroll. Headlining DC-area clubs such as Iota and Jammin Java with great audience reaction suggests the Dog Waggers are well poised for earning Best In Show.

UP CLOSE AND FAR 2 PERSONAL INTERVIEW WITH RICK THIELE:
Q: What is it about you guys from New Jersey?
A: We know how to rock and/or roll with the best of them ... that, and we all seem to have an excellent command of the King's English.
Q: Where have you been?
A: I've been everywhere, man, I've been everywhere.
Q: Influences?
A: I Dream of Jeannie had a big impact on me. As did the comedic stylings of Don Rickles and Amy Poehler. Musically, I'd have to say Gene Cotton, Phillip Glass and Ike Turner.
Q: Who would play you in a movie?
A: Either Sinead O'Connor or Sean Connery
Q: Have you ever wished upon a star?
A. Yeah, of course, and I've learned it makes no difference ...
A: You've learned this from watching "Jeopardy."
Q: What is to always give your answers in the form of a question?
Q: Do you floss?
A: Was Martin Luther a Lutheran?
Q: Who is your favorite Dixie Chick?
A: Uhhh ... Natalie.
Q: Why?
A: You made me pick a favorite ... fact is, I like 'em all cuz I, too, am frequently told to "shut up and sing."
Q: Who exactly tells you that?
A: Many a Lutheran pastor.
Q: Are we done?
A: I sure as hell hope so.
Maria Bartiromo’s Few Minutes With Geoff Pemble:
MB: Hi! It’s certainly great to finally meet you. I’m a big fan.
GP: If it gets any hotter, I could use a big fan.
MB: Oh, Geoff, that’s an old Marx Brothers line, isn’t it?
GP: Guilty as charged - Dave says it all the time.
MB: I really only have one question for you, big guy. Does hearing someone whisper the phrase “corporate malfeasance” into your ear have the same effect on you as it does on me?
GP: Uhh, er, uhhhhh, I’d have to guess ‘yes.’
MB: It IS quite the turn-on, isn't it Geoff. Oh, Geoff, would you let me in the band. I soooo wanna be a Dog Wagger, cuz you and me could sure make some beautiful, er, harmony, together, if ya know what I mean. Oh, Geoff, now I need a big fan, cuz it’s getting rather warm in here!
GP: Maria, I’m sure you know that I’m a happily married Lutheran.
MB: Oh, yes, I’ve read those sappy liner notes of “Chasin’ Tails.”
GP: Maria, that’s T-A-L-E-S. I stopped that kinda stuff long ago ...
MB: Right. But how did you know from simply hearing me say that word that I was thinking it was T-A-I-L-S?
GP: Because that’s the beauty of it, Maria … it’s kind of like a Rorschach test. The inflection of your voice was a dead giveway. That, and the fact that your hand is now gently -- but quite uncomfortably -- stroking my inner thigh …
MB: Oh, Geoff, I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable.
GP: You have, Maria. Now, please, just stop trying to ring my “closing bell.” This interview is over …
