The Domain's not too bad Myspace's Interests
|
| General |
The Domain skatepark is officially one of the many beneficial
TA: Domain Youth Community Interest Company.
Company No. 5761544
About us
We are an indoor skatepark in the Southwest of England on the boarder of Devon and Cornwall.
We are a Community Interests Company, which is a not for profit company.
We took on “The Domain Skatepark Ltd” which sadly had to close on the 5th of August 2006. This was due to the fact that it was a "private company" that was not applicable to gain any funding that was necessary to market its facilities accordingly or expand to reach its true potential for the community.
Domain Youth will be set up 100% for the progression of Skateboarding, BMXing, Inline Skating, Young people, the Community and so on.
The Plan, Aims and Objectives
The plan is to move our already set up Communities Interest Company (CIC) in to a much bigger warehouse where we can also accommodate street skaters, BMX riders and beginners (rather than just intermediate/ professional ramp skaters).
We will aim our facility directly to the relevant participants and Parents, Social workers/ Carers, Schools and Youth groups and encourage the general public to use our tuition to attract/ encourage and bring more people in to Skateboarding, BMX riding and Inline skating in Cornwall, Devon and beyond.
We aim to source funding for the development of facilities internally and externally to an appropriate level that will ensure enough users to exceed its own overheads and apply annual expansion or redevelopment to our facilities and services accordingly.
This will be even more beneficial to the community by encouraging far more participants off the streets and away from danger, in to an even better and more productive environment where users can express themselves freely, whilst practicing their skills, personal development, confidence building and social skills in an active sport that can offer opportunities to engage in regional or national competition levels. Users can also engage in some aspects of decision making via a users forum.
Changes that will be made
All categories of user will be able to enter the facility at any time, rather than just skateboarders and Inline skaters.
Opening times will be at least 6 days a week (Times TBC), rather than just Weekends and Wednesday nights. During School holidays, our opening times will be from 8am (weekdays) to benefit Parents as an affordable, safe, supervised and productive place for their children during working hours (appropriate ages TBD).

About me:
General News
27th March 07
For the record- regardless of where we may move, there will be many very significant changes in the operation of the new facility. We will guide categories of users towards particular week nights, but everyone and all categories of user will be welcome to use the facility at all times. It will be much more spacious to accommodate the change in operation. We will be welcoming BMX riders , Skateboarders and Inline skaters to give us there ideas and input towards the ramp design. Please email us your comments and ideas.

Right then- what's all the rumours I keep hearing? Well it's true we are moving out of this warehouse at the end of May! We have found a suitable location in Plymouth, which is dependent on the necessary negotiations. If things work out in our favour, then we will be sorted for mid summer (watch this space). Yes there will be an outdoor area. If things do not work out, then we will be sitting tight and waiting for appropriate funding to develop a major facility, built from scratch. Regardless, the company will do it's best. We are communicating with Plymouth City Council and with their support, it will get done in good time. We are doing our best and with the appropriate support from the council- we will get it done!
2nd January 07
WARNING- New opening times on Saturdays (Now 11am- 5pm) and Sundays (Now 12- 5pm). Most people seem to turn up around 12 anyway and 5 hours skating should do the trick. Private hire seems to be the way if your looking for a good sesh with your mates, the private hire fee (below) between 10 friends aint bad at all. That's a fiver each for private hire! Any time you like.
