   About The DooLallys
The DooLallys were formed by Sean and Julia Lally, on uilleann pipes and bouzouki and vocals respectively. They live on the canals and rivers of Southern England on board their narrowboat ’Scallywag’. They are now joined by Oxford’s Stuart Turner on bodhran and vocals. Our newest member is Michael Burdett, from Los Angeles who is moving to Oxford and will join us on vocals, guitar,flute and whistle. Michael is related to the famous Sligo fiddle player, Michael Colman. We play Irish traditional tunes with our own arrangements and sing songs of England, past and present. Our tagline is ’playing with tradition’ and we like to rework old folk songs to reflect our own lives. Our New Version Of The Cuckoo’s Nest Father O Flynn/Maid That Jigs It In Style The Gold Ring Our All New Version Of Sweet Thames Flow Softly

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001

Where traditions are not so rare;
    Sea, country and works scent the air;
A multitude of monuments,
    Planted tubs and patterned pavements.

The longish pedestrian malls;
    The remnants of defensive walls;
Historic buildings are a gauge
    Of the respect for heritage.

Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
    Estuaries guarded by shields;
Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
    Romantic-ruin go-betweens.

Rivers in parts licked by trees,
    Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
And crossed by practical delights -
    Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.

Fine churches headed at Durham;
    Football kits ad infinitum;
Kept castles - one for study;
    Masonry behind masonry.

And, with moulding-works out that way,
It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

(Hi: enjoyed my visit.)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Heelo the DooLallys, and how go you?

WE are well, and walking, and singing,. although ..ed has a sore throat and Will had the same 3 weeks ago.

It took awhile longer to leave than we thought, so was not until Feb that outward going happened. So now we are in Hampshire, and all is most well. WE are singing to a boy scouts troupe on Saturday. Rock and rolling it proper.

So now, we have also a website which aims to show the tale as it is happening.
This can be found at www.awalkaroundbritain.com

It is a tool, if used properly might be world changing, or must be, but in a really good way if we;re careful.

So we'll see. Hampshire ahoy, and enjoy bonny london watersides.

Love, Ed Will Ginger/
