Hailing from Manitoba, Canada, The Downfall seamlessly fuse elements of hardcore, metal, punk, and emo with a strong focus on musicianship to create a sound they can call their own in an independent music scene that is all to easy to get lost in the shuffle. With success comes trials and tribulations and as such The Downfall have had their fair share of lineup and name changes since their inception in 2000, however, with a dedicated lineup and a work ethic that surpasses most bands, they are still standing tall in 2005. Their self-funded, self-titled EP garnered much attention around this five some and included distribution amongst various online retailers including Interpunk.com and they have since shared the stage with various national acts including Every New Day, Hollow Ground, Ion Dissonance, Moneen, among others.
In August of 2004, The Downfall entered Silent Planet Studios to record their full length debut for Iron Summit Records. Produced by Jared Weiss (Comeback Kid, Resistance), the band did not exit the studio until December of 2004 perfecting the eleven tracks in which have become The Heat Of This Fireb an opus of eclectic styles, sounds, and influences. Expect nothing less than guttural screams, soaring melodies, metal riffing, punk rhythms, hardcore breakdowns, the long lost guitar solo, and an overall dynamic and variety missing in most music.
