An Iowa fiddler meets Bach over a pint of Guinness at an Irish Pub to play unknown hits from the 1970's.
"The Drollinger Family Band" is an acoustic folk music trio based in Iowa City, IA, featuring Guy, Hannah & Megan Drollinger performing on fiddles, mandolin, tin whistle, vocals and guitar. Hailing from a locally-renowned musical lineage of over seven generations, The Drollinger Family Band captivates young and old listeners alike with an impressive selection of Old-time American, Celtic, French-Canadian, Scotch-Irish, Norwegian & World Gypsy folk-fusion music. As both an experienced songwriter & famed storyteller, Guy is likely to sing one of his inspired originals alongside an unexpected folk-rock classic, jazz standard or old swing tune. While mostly German in heritage, he has passed on a strong love of Irish fiddling to his two daughters, which can be heard through their beautiful and expressive playing. As creative and versatile young artists, both Hannah & Megan received training in classical violin at the Preucil School of Music, in Iowa City, which is noticeable through the intricate melodies and imaginative harmonies that they improvise. With a sense of musical timing only explained by their relation to one another, The Drollinger Family Band promises to excite the ears and stir the hearts of listeners from all walks of life.
