Das Jahr neigt sich nun wieder den grauen Tagen zu und The Drops bringen uns ein bisschen Farbe ins Leben! The Drops, die Newcomer der Basler Popszene, haben dieses Jahr bewiesen, dass man auch ohne grossen Label-Deal sein „Debut-Album" mit Bravour veröffentlichen kann. Mit Singles wie „Fire On Your Feet" oder „Eleanor" haben die vier jungen Basler gezeigt, dass auch aus der Schweiz Sommerhymnen und musikalisch vertonte Frühlingsgefühle kommen können, die sich mit Coldplay oder The Kooks messen können. Hochgelobt von den Medien und Internetblogs, gespielt von etlichen Radios, im Schweizer Fernsehen gezeigt und zum DRS 3 Best Talent gekürt sind The Drops Anwärter auf den heissbegehrten Swiss – Music Award Best New Talent, welcher Anfangs 2013 vergeben wird. Pünktlich am 11. September, erscheint nun die vorab letzte Single des Debut Albums „Flying Dutchmen", welches im Mai erschienen ist. Passend dazu gibt es das wohl wahrscheinlich kontroverseste Video der Schweizer Indie Szene. Mit „Napoleon" zeigen uns The Drops noch einmal, dass sie nicht nur die luftig, leichten Melodien draufhaben, sondern auch Tiefgründigkeit und einen Hang zu Theatralik gekonnt mit ihrem „Popappeal" verbinden, sodass ihr einzigartiger „Dutchpop" entsteht. „Napoleon you're always right you, led us through every fight." -

What's up The Drops? Your intoxicating reflection can but incorporate freely into the powerful surface of a disintegrating mirror set afloat upon a swarm of locusts. In your absence I am forced into finding other forms of amusement while thinking about you. I desire to see life through your hallucinations so that they massage my viscera into an eternal state of turgid flux. I relentlessly desire cotton candy lollipops. Your sweet voice is like the application of aloe vera upon a sunburnt back. So charmingly silky, your skin is like a teardrop on a popsickle. Your eyes show as many deep and full shades of fire as a volcano in heat. Your cleverness helps me breathe without the need of oxygen. As the bliss slowly rises in my incandescent eluxulator, your mere presence has a euphoric effect upon me. Panoramic aromavision is the future. I keep searching for you between the cushions. Wood nymphs sprinkle your path with rose petals while you dance and prowl in the sequined moonlight with leftover cupcake sprinkles.
