Peter Cork the great music scholar :)
During his university years Moore became passionately interested in jazz and soon became an accomplished jazz pianist and composer as well as working with leading musicians such as John Dankworth and Cleo Laine. In 1960 he left Dankworth's band to work on Beyond the Fringe. Later in the 1960s he formed the acclaimed "Dudley Moore Trio" (with drummer Chris Karan and bassists Pete McGurk and later Peter Morgan). In 1963 on the Decca label "The Other Side of Dudley Moore" featuring the Trio was produced,a Mono LP that included tracks My Blue Heaven, Lysie Does It, Poova Nova, Take Your Time, Indiana,Sooz Blooz, Bauble, Bangles and Beads, Sad One for george and Autumn Leaves. The trio performed regularly on British television, made numerous recordings and had a long-running residency at Peter Cook's club, The Establishment.
This is a page dedicated to the musical work of our band aside from the partnership with the great Peter Cook. I believe our band to be underrated in this area which is why i have created this Myspace.
Feel free to suggest other songs which you wish to be on here and i shall upload them. Thank You.
Hello, What a talent Dudley was. Very underrated in my humble opinion. Loved his playing and part of THE comic genius duo. Shouldn't have gone to America Dud! Sorely missed. Peace.
33 years ago..... I was at school, 17yrs old, and we were all asked to go to the hall, no explanation. We sat for 5 mins, then the headmaster came on stage and said that a former pupil had paid a visit and would like to entertain us on the piano for half an hour. He walked off and on walked Dud, with that big grin slapped on. That half-hour is possibly the best memory of my schooldays. Dud, you were great and I still miss you.
Guardian Columnist Phil Beadle commented: “This book rocks harder than early period Sabbath. I gulped it down quicker than Ozzy Osbourne used to down a bottle of bourbon.”
