"The Durkins are the result of years of making music with our friends and family." -That's what Johnny Durkin has to say about it. Johnny is the brother of vocalist Jen Durkin who has been a powerhouse staple on the Funk/Rock scene for well over a decade. Both Durkins are members of the original Deep Banana Blackout which continues to perform a handful of shows annually. "In lieu of a full time touring schedule with DBB or either of our own groups we really wanted to play more." -says Johnny, "But with all things considered with touring and people's families and schedules it's easier to stay local but you don't want to over do it with any one act. If you see Manchado, which is my Latin/Jazz group, it's 3 plus hours of totally different music, instrumentation, and style. Same with Jen's Equinox project. But neither are geared toward Funk/Rock so we assembled the Durkins." The rest of the band consists of Rich Zurkowski on Bass (Martin Sexton/Joe Louis Walker), Darian Cunning - Guitar(Cosmic Jibaros), Jesse Gibbon(Shliegho), and fellow DBB alumni Rob Somerville on Tenor Sax. "Now it's important to stress that we have all been playing together in different groups for years and the one thing is that we have and continue to get along really well musically and personally. I think we all recognize and appreciate that so it comes out in the performance." -Johnny Durkin

According to Durkin folklore..."there is a third...hmm I sense the force is strong with her", has been prophesized by many a Jedi Master. How ever this "other Durkin" is way ahead of her time and only appreciated for her spaghetti and meatballs, and ability to dance like no one is watching. Soon this will change......
