Dutch Oven. Oh, you want some sort of easy to understand comparisons. Fine...it sounds like the elevator music you would hear on your way to hell.
Dislocating eardrums.
Dutch Oven formed in early 2002, in Montreal, Canada. The members met while employed as groundskeepers at a local mental hospital. They were all fired after the administration caught wind of the fact that certain employees - three in particular - had been offering free rides on their tractors to some of the patients in exchange for their medication. Having sobered up from the incredible bender following their “retirement” party, the three decided to take a stab at a somewhat more interesting line of work, albeit no more financially rewarding than property maintenance. With blurred focus and reckless abandon, the dirt rock was born.
The trio, comprised of frontman D. (guitar/yells), C.B. (bass/screams), and Kevbonics (drums/hums) [retired], spent the early part of their existence hammering out songs in between cold ones. Eventually they realized this was completely counter-productive and resolved to keep their beers firmly in hand throughout. Dutch Oven took its sonic bulldozer to the masses and never thought of looking back. With a thunderous live performance, the group has maintained a consistently active touring schedule in both Canada and the United States. This relentless mission has seen the band share the stage along the way with countless established acts and underground legends such as Priestess, Sons of Otis, The Mighty Nimbus, Ogre, Red Elite, Floating Widget, Maximum R’n’R, Brant Bjork & The Bros., Protest The Hero, Bionic, Iron Giant, Die Mannequin, Panthers, Fiftywatthead, and Pride Tiger. Dutch Oven released its debut album entitled “Now Serving” in late 2003, and followed up with the “Audible Silence” EP in the spring of 2004. Following the departure of the original drummer, the band fell into the vicious cycle of the “Spinal Tap Syndrome” of disappearing drummers while recording its sophomore release entitled “Electric Last Minute” [Gaia Disk] in 2005. Shortly after completing the “Weird Science” EP in 2006, Dutch Oven welcomed drummer Tony into its ranks. While working on new material for its next full length album, Dutch Oven found time to record yet another EP entitled “Empty Pockets”. Following that release, the band quickly returned to the studio to record the 5-song “Feral” EP which was released in April 2008. With an excess of fresh songs waiting to be put to tape, the trio joined forces with fellow rockers Attack Of The Microphone for a split-cd EP entitled "A Mirage Of Flesh". Further recording projects are in the works including a split 7" vinyl and forthcoming full length album with new skinbeater Carl. Here for the long haul, Dutch Oven continues to bring its brand of loud love to the ears of the world.

Harnessing a balance between destructive passages and more atmospheric moments. Undeniable songwriting that once transcribed to the stage will blow eardrums. The trio incorporates an impeccable sense of time and dynamics into their well-crafted, ass kickin’ songs. Hot rocking baked to a crisp. Never, ever judge a book by its cover, Dutch Oven has the chops.
Take the punk-metal of Motorhead and the discordant dynamics of Fugazi while Queens Of The Stone Age play the songs of Mudhoney and you have yourself a decent head start towards the sound that is uniquely Dutch Oven.
