With the rats paid off and summer on the mend, singer/songwriter James Pender ripped out the guts of his ‘34 Vagabond, licked clean his rusty fingers and finally laid down 10 of his finest, on what will now be known forever as Lazy Mutinado... or faithfully, ...“the first one”.
Recorded in July, 2005 at the Woodshop Studios on Vancouver Island,
Lazy Mutinado is a ten song juke box complete with a whisky
and a handful of dimes. Littered like the floor of junk drawer hot rod
Lazy Mutinado proves that good songs can still speak for themselves and with enough ramblin’ ear candy to make a deaf man smile, this is nothing short of a lyrical joyride! From the bar stool intro of the rocker “Innocent Victim”, right up until the last note of the pint waving “Lazy Friends” Pender leaves no stone unturned, and spares no curiosity while saving only the hope that there may still be a handful of gold down hiding in the wreck .
Backed by a fistful of first class riff raff, armed like a cannon full of broken guitars, Lazy Mutinado was pushed out from behind the curtains and set ablaze beneath the towering fantasy of a dimly lit stage.
And while history whistled and patiently waited as the sun bowed down to the heat of the fire... The Dying Embers were born...
Night after night and song after song, blazing like a gin soaked Cadillac, the Embers continue to stomp out their acoustic laced rock songs, burning off one hit after another as if they were already rock n roll classics! With a kick ass debut CD, a tank full of petrol and a match to the can, James Pender and his fabulous Dying Embers are a band on fire indeed! While outdoor festivals, showcase venues, pubs, tubs, hotels and halls are all surrendering their stage to the band, it’s no question why The Dying Embers have quickly become the word on the street !
