In detail:
Dzifa Benson does three main things - writes, performs and coaches. She has read and performed her prose and poetry nationally and internationally including Tate Britain, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, and the Shakespeare & Company bookshop, Paris. She has also performed in conventional and devised theatre at the Battersea Arts Centre and is regularly called upon to host spoken word, music and cabaret nights in London. Occasionally, she performs as her alter ego, Sister Siren and loves butter, soup and smoothies.
Her work has been featured in Tell Tales Volume 1 anthology of short stories and national tour, the National Gallery website and podcast, the Guardian, the Evening Standard, Philosophy Now magazine, Tears in the Fence literary journal and as a playwright, at the Bush Theatre. An experienced workshop facilitator, she has run workshops and masterclasses at the Royal Geographical Society, the Poetry Café, in schools, libraries and community organisations across a wide age range and for different abilities. In November 2007, she was commissioned to take part as a core artist in Africa Beyond’s groundbreaking cross-art, collaborative project, Translations. She is currently writer-in-residence (until July 2009) at the Courtauld Institute of Art.
