Raised in the expanse of strip malls and twenty-four hour coffee shops that make up the suburbs of east
Toronto,
The Eatons are four neighbourhood boys who play passionate rock music as a palliative for the boredom of suburban living. Comprised of
Boris Chan (vocals),
Sebastian Franks (guitar),
Jacky Siu (bass) and
Nick Ferguson (drums),
The Eatons' unique brand of guitar pop evokes the best of British rock (Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead) and Canadian indie-pop (New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene).
In 2008, the Eatons recorded and released the
Firestarter EP to outstanding reviews. They celebrated their release with a rare suburban rock party in the heart of Scarborough at 54east studios.
"Give Me Something To Go On", off the Firestarter EP, has been included in various podcasts (such as the blogTO.com podcast) and was also featured in the Two Way Monologues Mixtape Vol. 1 compilation CD.
Since the Firestarter EP was released, the Eatons have trekked around Ontario, playing shows in Barrie, Milton, Whitby, Oshawa, just to name a few as well as their hometown Toronto, where they played to hundreds of people at the packed New Era flagship store at Nuit Blanche 2008. The Eatons have begun work on their upcoming EP which will be released in late 2009.
