The Ebbs were formed in Los Angeles in 2004 by Matthew Prinkey, his little sister Kate, and Chad Crone. As a true power trio, The Ebbs have created their own unique brand of psychedelic, punk and blues, combining Matt's poetic lyrics with gritty face melting guitar. Kate beats the hell out of the drums while Chad holds it all together. Seeing the Ebbs live is like getting kicked in the balls in church.
Drawing influence from Bob Dylan, Charles Bukowski, cheap whiskey, Hendrix and LA neo-plasticity, what sets the Ebbs apart from other bands is not sounding like other bands. The Ebbs love their music and each other.
After a show at Spaceland in Los Angeles, Chad Bamford, co-producer of Weezer albums Maladroit and Make Believe and engineering such bands as Spiritualized, Wolfmother, AFI, and Perry Farrell, enthusiastically agreed to produce the bands' demo. Upon completion of the tracks, Bamford was so impressed with the delicate intensity captured in the studio he offered to bring the band back immediately and record a full album pro bono. The result is Hell Made Us Magnets, recorded live over seven days and self-released in 2007.
