It was not so long ago that two party-goers, wrapped in bed-sheet togas, found themselves both reaching for what they thought was their unopened cold beer. Being peaceful, upstanding gentlemen and not wanting to spoil the party, they agreed upon the most logical and fair solution to their dilemma… a coin toss. In a single fluid motion, the (slightly) taller of the two had reached into the folds of his finest linens, removed a quarter, and flicked it into the air. The other gentleman confidently declared his choice. It was at this precise moment that a young woman burst into the house shouting something about how nobody had better be trying to steal her man, and accidentally slammed her toga in the screen door. She then unwillingly performed what can only be described as a 'failed double-axel', landing naked on all fours in the middle of the crowd. Needless to say, this had distracted the two men and the coin hit the floor and rolled away. While searching behind a couch for the coin that was still technically 'in play', they stumbled upon a dusty, worn-out guitar. They gave up on finding the coin, split the beer, and wrote their first song right there on the spot. Andrew Dondeville and Lucas Goularte founded Thee Japanese School Girls in 2007. They are joined by their friends Miles Austin, Cory Agent and Joseph Gregory. TJSG have played house parties, coffee houses, dive bars, small and medium-sized venues, festivals and the occasional impromptu, acoustic, front-porch rock-opera marathons. The audience can expect high-fives, hugs, gifts, and a great rock show. The band wants their fans to leave the show knowing they played a key role in the experience. The whole thing couldn't have happened the way it did, if they hadn't been there. -
