   The Environment Site's Blurbs
About me:

The Environment Site was created as part of a MSc study into the impact the Internet can have on charitable contributions. Its aim is two fold. Firstly it aims to help fund the work of the Surrey Wildlife Trust in protecting areas of outstanding natural beauty in the county of Surrey. Secondly it aims to help people globally to increase their environmental awareness and provide easy means with which people can make small changes to their lifestyle to help the environment.

Things You Can Do at The Environment Site:

I guess the site is split into two main areas. One section provides you with things to help the environment (for little or no cost). The other section allows you to learn about and discuss the environment.

How you can Help

We have several free donation facilities that allow you to help the environment without it costing you any extra. These include:
  • Click to donate - Click a button, raise money for environmental charities. Simple (and free). What are you waiting for?
  • Search to donate - You all search the web right? Now your searches can raise money and help the environment.
  • Shop to donate - Everyone loves to shop but treating yourself is not what eco warriors do right? Wrong. Now you can shop to your hearts content and a percentage of each purchase goes towards helping the environment. Everyone's a winner!

How you can Learn

We have several ways that you can learn about the environment and interact with others around the world. These include:
  • The Environment Site Forum - I love this place, we have over 2,500 people from all over the world debating the latest environmental issues. Some of the topics under discussion include: climate change, renewable energy, peak oil, recycling, deforestation, biodiversity, over population, organic farming and much more.
  • Eco Tips - Doing your bit is really easy, you just have to know how. With our eco tips knowledge base you have no excuses any more. 100's of great and easy to implement tips to help reduce your environmental impact (and save money!)

Ways you can help us

Obviously the more people that know about The Environment Site the better, so there are some ways you can help us to do this. These include:

Latest Forum Topics

Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone that has an interest in environmental issues.

Here are some pics of one of my favorites places to go near my home.
Bird Island was privately owned prior to 2002. The shoreline, dunes, and marshland of Bird Island provide important habitat and nesting for species that are endangered, threatened, or of special concern, including the Kemp's Ridley and Loggerhead sea turtles. Although there was no vehicular access to this land, there was the threat that the land might someday be developed. The state of North Carolina used $4.2 million of public and private funding to purchase the land and create a coastal reserve, administered by the North Carolina Division of Coastal Management.
PhotobucketOn a dune at Bird Island, a few miles from Brunswick Plantation, right off the western end of Sunset Beach NC, is an isolated mailbox with the inscription "Kindred Spirit" on its side. Inside the mailbox are notebooks and a pencil for passing beachcombers and joggers to record their thoughts and feelings. A handy bench is nearby to sit and contemplate the beauty of the surroundings and read the notations made by others who take the time to fully appreciate how lucky they are to be in such a wonderful place.

You create your life through the inner power of your being, whose source is within you and yet beyond the selves that you know. Use those creative abilities with understanding abandon. Honor yourselves and move through the godliness of your being.

Do the Happy Dance!!! It's Friday!!!

The Texas preacher rose with an angry red face. "Someone in this congregation has spread a rumour that I belong to the Ku Klux Klan. This is a horrible lie and one, which a Christian community cannot tolerate. I am embarrassed and do not intend to accept this. Now, I want the party who did this to stand and ask forgiveness from God and this Christian family."

No one moved.

The preacher continued, "Do you have the nerve to face me and admit this is a falsehood? Remember, you will be forgiven and in your heart you will feel glory. Now stand and confess your transgression."

Again all was quiet.

Then, slowly, a drop-dead gorgeous blonde with a body that would stop traffic rose from the third pew. Her head was bowed and her voice quivered as she spoke.

"Reverend there has been a terrible misunderstanding. I never said you were a member of the Ku Klux Klan. I simply told a couple of my friends that you were a wizard under the sheets!"

Look at every path closely
and deliberately,
then ask ourselves this crucial question:
Does this path have a heart?
If it does, then the path is good.
If it doesn't, it is of no use.

Always keep in mind,
that no matter what has happened,
you did the very best you could.
And so did those who may have let you down.

"BEHIND THE MASK"

-lyrics-

in laboratories, experimenting, torture and maiming
bloody hands, open wounds, broken limbs
trapped in cages, tied to tables, electroshocking
only one group brings true justice they're not terrorists

THE REAL HEROES, THE TRUE TILL DEATH KIDS, SACRIFICING
THE REAL HEROES, THE TRUE TILL DEATH KIDS, SACRIFICING

in secret meetings, they place escape, no authority
just a ski mask, sharp bolt cutters, fuck the scientists
smash the cages, burn the labs, free the helpless
only one group brings true justice they're not terrorists

THE REAL HEROES, THE TRUE TILL DEATH KIDS, SACRIFICING
THE REAL HEROES, THE TRUE TILL DEATH KIDS, SACRIFICING

what if it was your brother
what if it was your sister
what if it was your father
what if it was your............mother
