Michael V. Farley introduces The Ephemera Design Firm. Farley, whose work under the name "the beige channel," has received positive attention in The Wire magazine, and ParisTransatlantic, diverts the techniques from his more experimental work into this new project as melodic, instrumental post-rock, with a prominent role for electric guitar.
"Quatrafoil," a 4-movement "symphony" for laptop and guitar, and the centerpiece of his CD of the same name, is inspired by Medieval and Renaissance music, Microhouse, and Pop. In live performances, expect some crowd pleasing cover tunes, such as fractured mashups pairing the likes of Kylie Minogue with Talking Heads, and Devo with Dusty Springfield.
