The Ephemeral Asperity was originally an idea formed by both Travis Huhn and Jim Hufford. At the time, both Travis and Jim were attending college and were spending a good portion of there time helping out with the Youth Ministry at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. Travis was singing in a Southern Rock band with his brother and Jim was involved in a collaboration called Salem Road. Since both Jim and Travis were very heavily involved with the Youth Ministry, they felt convicted to reach out to youth who did not know the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One day at college, Jim and Travis were discussing the “hardcore music scene” and how it was ironic that the kids who reject Jesus were the kids that listen to the popular hardcore/metal Christian bands. After a few minutes of discussing the possibilities of how these bands could witness to millions of kids, it was almost immediately decided that they would attempt to form a metal band as witness to all different types of kids. Since their church was gifted with a lot of musically talented people, they had no problem forming this band. The band consists of Kenny Rothrock--Drums, Travis A Huhn--Lead Vocals, Jim Hufford--Guitar, Mike Scales--Bass, John Hufford--Guitar *Rotates*--Scream Vocals.
As far as a mission statement goes, the first and foremost intent of Ephemeral Asperity is to spread the saving word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the many who do not know Him personally. Many of their lyrics are straight from His word, and those formed by the band revolve around the true and living word as well. He is the only reason we have life, breath, and are able to rise to a new day every day. Ephemeral Asperity wants nothing more than to glorify Him with the talents He has so richly blessed them with.
