The Establishment were formed in the summer of 2006 by former Nottingham Forest midfielder John Burns and Nottingham drummer Steven landon after the two of them met at Zebra Music in Ilkeston where Steven was working.
Steven invited friend Stephen Hobster to join on vocals as he had briefly worked with him on another project that never got off the ground.
At the time Steve Landon was still playing drums in a relatively successful rock band called the Landon brothers and persuaded bass player Neil Jacks to help out by playing until a full time bassist could be found.
They began rehearsing as a four piece putting together a set list so that they could start playing gigs. Having been asked to play on St Patricks Day at the Falcon pub the band decided they needed a second guitarist and had soon recruited experienced guitarist Stuart Landon (Steven's older brother)
Having only recruited Stuart for the one gig they set about playing. As anyone crammed into the tiny venue will know, it was legendary.
In the aftermath of the famous Falcon gig the five lads realised there was a certain chemistry on stage so the band agreed they would stay as a five piece with Neil and Stuart becoming full time members.
After a hugely successful trip to Dublin with several music venues offering the band gigs if they plan a return trip.
Since then the band have spent their time building their own rehearsal studio as a place to write their own original material.
They are regulars at some of Nottinghams most prestigous music venues including The Running Horse and the Southbank bar to name but a few.
The band released their debut 4 track EP ("Last one home") back in July of this year and have been enjoying great response nationwide from national radio stations, newspapers and their ever growing fanbase.
Recently the band were invited down to the BBC television studios in London to perform 2 tracks and conduct an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, where they recieved a great response from listeners and production staff alike. They have also featured on "The Jo & Twiggy breakfast show" on Trent fm and the middle of September saw them on the pitch at half-time at Nottingham Forest where they got a fantastic reception from the fans.
The EP is a preview to the bands first album that is planned for release later this year. Their aim is to put the City of Nottingham on the musical map.

Saturday May 23rd
"The Bad Shepherds play punk songs on folk instruments. Not as a gag, but because we really like the noise. We think the songs are better than people remember. We love folk instruments. It works.
We do songs by The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Stranglers The Jam, Sham 69, The Undertones, Talking Heads, Squeeze and others, even Kraftwerk! Alright, they're not all punk, but they come from roughly the same era.
We've mostly given the songs a kind of Celtic feel, and we've stuck in the odd reel and jig here and there. But occassionally we just thrash! I've always thought the excitement of a reel taking off is the nearest thing to the excitement of watching punk live in the 70's."
ZU Mathy experimentation from members of The Mike Patton Quartet. One of only 2 UK shows! The Exploits Of Elaine Epic post-rock that echos Explostions In The Sky and Godspeed Alright The Captain Instro-Mentalists
