The name "Eternal Shade" was due to a Lord Balthazar's ( actually voice and lyrics in the band) careful consideration: "nothing living in darkness can be blocked,at least covered. Anyway,its existance remains undiscussed."
By that, we can evict the whole project beyond the birth of the band.
Lord Balthazar,who,when he was a 18 year old guy,had already have experiences as singer in a band on the Deicide style( which split up in 1999 because of various problems),wanted to go in black metal,without leaving behind his beloved brutal/death influences.
That's how was born in his mind the-as Lord Balthazar himself likes to say-the "sick labour" of Eternal Shade. This idea found agreement in the same of Reziel,basicly a keyboard player, who in 2003 created a first core of the band with: Lord Balthazar,voice and lyrics, and Reziel,guitar. The points of reference for that particular duo were the 90's black metal,rough and though (coming from Lord Balthazar),and the most melodic aspect of gothic metal and 80’s new wave,preferred by Reziel.
However,the mix of those 2 kinds of music with their unconciliable traits,didn't seem to work.
This brought to an interrumption of the project,which came back lively thanks to Caino's joining in as drum player,playing basicly crossover. At this point,is clear that the band was in search of a sort of "musical stability",so he didn't last long,although he was very useful:
in fact in "The Temple" (music by Reziel,voice and lyrics by Lord Balthazar) there are some particular drum parts still remaining,created by Caino himself.
He left the band in 2004,year in which another guy,(who Lord Balthazar calls "collegue")Alberto,joined in,bringing his power metal influences. Same old story. He soon left the band.
The show must go on,and so from 2004 to 2007 6 other elements joined in:
1-Juri,as bass player;
2-Ashling, Lord Balthazar's ex girlfriend,keyboard player;
3-Stige,screaming vocals;
4-Darkfrost,lead guitar;
5-Oldgoblin,rhytmic guitar;
6-Sgalli,drums.
The last one was the only one who decided to stay faithful to the band.
Reziel,as Stige,moved on to pursue a solo project (for example,Stige has his "Coffin");
Yury was sent away because of his evident lack of interest an absenteism;
Ashling went away because of the break of her relationship with Lord Balthazar;
Darkfrost and Old Goblin moved on because some other problems.
So,at that point,just Sgalli and Lord Balthazar were left alone. In that moment, Deirdre,actually the bass player in the band,joined in,together with her boyfriend Redevil,who plays the guitar.
In conclusion, the ( we hope!) final line up is:
Lord Balthazar: voice and lyrics;
Redevil: guitar;
Nancy (Deirdre): bass;
Sgalli: drums
Now the band is on the run,ready to kick ass!
